winch for h2

im looking for a winch. my dad just bought a h2 tho so im keeping that in mind since he will be off roading with me sometimes. he has no winch on his, and he will throw a few bucks into the pot for this winch :)
is a 12k winch ok? the 15k winches are pretty damn expensive...

will this fit the bill?

whats better electric or hydrualic?

4Jeepn 08-26-2008 09:21 PM

I would think the 12k should be fine. You can always use a clevis and double the line rating, so in theory its a 24k lbs winch. I like electric myself, pull faster, less things to go wrong. also look at placed like winchdepot.com also check out some of our vendors on the site as they might be able to get you a good price as well.

12K that is what my dad has on his H2... works just fine. just be ready to be sitting around helping him winch out of every little hole or over little logs... :D

check out Warn Winch, Mile Marker Winches, Smittybilt, Superwinch, T-Max, and other Winch Accessories. Winches Ship for $9.95 they have some amazing prices.

^your joking right? hopefully lol. iv seen some videos and h2's look more than capable to do some pretty good wheelin :flipoff:
i know everyone has a competative side with hummers but i dig em.

ok im looking at this one:
Warn 12000 - Self-Recovery Winch

is either electric or hyhdrualic better for submerging in water? i do alot of mud holes, occasionally go thru deep water (over the bumper).

do either style of winch have a longer life span? or more durable then the other?

also, the warn winch mounts look lame to me. what other mounts work with warn? i want to put a hawse lead on it, i know you shouldnt but ill just replace the hawse every once and a while i figure.

one thing you will learn about me is that I never joke. lets just get that straight right now.

j/k.
but really I've seen H2's get stuck in the most unlikley spots. my dad has seen his share of stuck in that thing. H2's are also the bastard child of humer as far as I can see anyway.

I use my electric warn 9000i and its seen quite a bit of H2O. I don't know what you mean by the warn mounts though... like the mounting plate? if thats what your talking about, its very very strong I wouldn't worry about it to much.

install a 12k winch on your TJ. on that way you can recover every hummer that´s in the way..

yjwrangler 08-28-2008 06:42 AM

what you need is a winch up front, and a hitch mounted winch out back...and maybe even the porta winch, and at bare minimum you need a jeep with you, with a big (*&kin winch
then i think your dads hummer will be all set to go, just remember to bring extra front axle shafts and learn that patients is a virtue, and when your dad is stuck for the 400th time and your pissed off cause your just getting out of the drive way, you can tell your dad sometheing like.

" i have patients dad i just don't hand it out like candy"

alright good luck

ah you basterds :flipoff:

im going to pull the trigger with the m1200 electric.
i think im going to go with the a to z fab winch mount, it looks heavy duty, has style, and fits the price.
im going to call to make sure everything is compatiable tho first, just to be safe.

yeah i think your'll be "pullin the trigger" quit a bit.
in all seriousness good luck and buy a warn, if you can i know there pricey but you can't beat it. and remember that when you brag about takin it off road that you don't talk about the engine under the hood, you brag about the engine in the winch, cause that is what is gettin your arse out of a hole...:flipoff:

later slick!!!!

slippy 08-28-2008 05:26 PM

erm i hate you guys :D

i bought the m1200 and the atozfab winch mount. ill be eating roman for a couple months.

Not unless you've got 2000 lbs of concrete in the back or your tied off to something else. The hummer will pull you right in.

.....in this order...hummer(stuck)-winch-jeep-tow strap-tree= free h2 (for the moment)!!

this bad boy just arrived at my place. its a monster! ways a ton, ill defintly need some spacers after installing it. ill get my winch plate from atoz hopefully tuesday ish.

winchdepot had the best price i found on the net, and they shipped it lightning fast. i think i recieved it in 2 days. they have my recomendation.

ALSO! i asked my jeepclub if anyone could butcher my bumper with a sawzall and one guy said he had one alrdy done, lying in his garage. caped off the end and all the holes are welded shut and it has a bedliner type of paint on it. its really good work. FREE. awsome. ill take some pics when its all on.

yjwrangler 08-30-2008 02:18 PM

just got my atoz mounting plate in today. they said shipping would be 4-5 days and it took 2 weeks. i can tell this is a refurbished product. the front has scratches and scuffs on it where you can tell someone alrdy mounted a roller fairlead to it.

i was putting pieces together in my livingroom on my lunch break to get an idea where everything goes. it didnt take long for me to figure out this winch plate isnt going to work with the winch. i talked with warn for a bit on instalation instructructions and they arnt compatable. the side of the winch with the 4 holes needs to face foward, and the holes dont match up. there a half inch of or so.
i asked atoz if it would be compatible when i bought it and they said yes.

i tried calling atoz a few times but no-one is picking up right now.

buncha bs.
