Dirt roads and mud - Charlotte?

Are there any good trails or mud that I can get into while Uwharrie is closed? I live just east of Charlotte

Riccochet 01-08-2013 12:41 PM

Find an unfinished development. There are a few local to me that I'll occasionally wheel through. You may or may not have trouble with the law doing this. lol

cowboync 08-01-2013 11:55 AM

If your talking about the one by the amphitheater then yea. I've been down that one its alrright. There's more back over on the other side of 485 that I always play in.

I just moved to Charlotte last month. I'd be interested in hearing more about these locations you're speaking of. Especially since I live less than 5 minutes from 485 (Ballantyne Area).

These are on the north side of Charlotte. Exit 32 area off N. Tryon.

But, yeah, we should get a group together and kick up some dirt. :punk:

Sounds like a good idea

Why spam something about Raleigh? I'm pretty sure most of us from Charlotte aren't going to drive 2.5 - 3 hours just to hang out.

fr0stman 08-16-2013 04:23 PM

Definitely would like to hear about the trails in the University area or otherwise.

Tribefan 08-18-2013 08:30 PM

Are the university area trails legal? Or is it ride at your own risk?

Ya got that right!
If I'm gonna drive that far, I will go to Uwharrie ... but now waiting for it to dry out a bit.
Once it does, we gotta hear more about these trails off Tryon/85 .....

Uwharrie for sure once it dries out. Doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon though.

Welp. I went to the trails in the university area today with my cousin who had been there in the past. We got part way back there and there was a downed tree blocking the path. Attempted a 10-point turn and got stuck in a mud rut. It was my first time trying out my winch. Got unstuck. Headed back out. Got stuck in another rut. Winched again. The mud was really bad back there in the areas we could get to. Should have known better but since I had the winch, I gave it a go.

Riccochet 08-20-2013 04:20 AM

Good to know! I, or someone, will have to roll out there with a chainsaw and take care of that tree. :)
