Top Gear Silence.
newly registered 2nd J.K.
My first post is in response to an older forum subject. It inspired me to email Top Gear U.K directly, register and restart the subject.
Top Gear U.K hasn't coverd these three great vehicles together.
Imagine those three goofing around in the 4x4's we know and love.
Here is the follow up email resent.
Hello Top Gear U.K,
I sent a friendly little question a while back & wondered if anyone had a chance to read through my simple query?
Any go juice in the tank Jezza?
Where is that Richard fire?
Where is that famous British Cricket-fair play philosophy, Mr May?
Britannia never backed away from a genuine challenge or did it?
Lucky the colonies were there to rescue a mother in distress.
Ostrich is as ostrich does?
That reference is to a movie called Forest Gump BTW. I know your way too busy watching Sweeny and Benny Hill.
Anyway how about changing the name from Top Gear to Ostrich Ears? A fitting pseudonym for the new HD version of your show don't you think?
Alright, if admission is confirmed by silence- that is fine with me. I can understand that you are defeated and it is not wise to engage a battle you can't win?
The maxim is "Qui tacet consentire": the maxim of the law is "Silence gives consent". If therefore you wish to construe what my silence betokened, you must construe that I consented.

Subject: General Purpose?
Hello Top Gear,
love the show!
I would like you to see a three teared comparative review of The Land Rover Defender 110, Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Jeep Wrangler 4 door Rubicon. On road, offroad functions and features.
Here's a link to the forum that got me thinking.
Why haven't we seen a comparative review in regards to these very capable machines on your program? I've been watching Top Gear for years and I find it strange that you have not yet covered these deservedly, wonderful purpose made vehicles together. Plenty of time spent on the Hot Hatch and Bentleys of the world though. Have forgotten function & purpose?
Not very British! Maybe I missed that episode. No I didn't.
Thanks for all the laughs over the years.
The contact list is below, I sent the email to all three just in case.
email general enquiries.
Feel free to contact them yourself if gumption be willing.
were do you think the jk would land on the lap board.
but seriously the defender would win. not because its better. its comparable to a wrangler unlimited but not the rubicon. but because its british. if you folow the show some how the rover always wins. did you see where they took it to the top of the hill in scotland? why not make it challenging. after the initial challenge give each team 5 grand and come up with the most capable rig.
They rehearse the show and it is completely biased & staged but why aren't people asking the same questions? The show is mostly a joke on us but why the long silence. Not even one reference? Now we have a jeep which is much cheaper, more powerful & now better equipped. I know this well because I did my very best to choose another vehicle over the wrangler rubicon diesel or otherwise. My budget could accommodate a much more expensive alternative but i still chose my 2nd J.K that I now happily own; I couldn't warrant walking past the American Battler.
Where's the common sense in letting it slide?
Ive thought about having a Wrangler on Top Gear too...but you all should really try contacting Top Gear USA on the History Channel. The Jeep name is an American icon and they would be more willing to feature one i would assume. Now what I think would be very cool is to take a stock YJ, a stock (non rubicon) TJ, and a stock (non rubicon) JK two door and put them through a series of tests to see how each out performs the others in different ways. Heck, maybe even through in a CJ...
The Stig has spoken...
But yeah i know theyve had US cars, i mean, the Orangutan (Jeremy) owns a Ford GT. I just dont see them ever featuring a Wrangler. I could see the USA show do it though...
The US version featured a CJ vs a Bronco and something forgettable on season 2.
Do you know what episode number that was? I must have missed it when i was without tv for a couple months due to a house fire :nonono:
I remember James and Richard ripping him the entire season for it.
They've never reviewed a Jeep? There is a conspiracy here. .
The closest thing that TG UK has used in an episode to a Jeep was the Toyota Land Cruiser in the Bolivia Special. That thing was worthless. Also as perviously stated, TG USA had a CJ in a challenge along with a bronco and a Blazer. We know UK is very staged, but I'll still watch that any day over US.
I dont think they ever covered why he got rid of it on TG. Jeremy wrote a good piece on it for TG Mag. Something wrong with the security system that Ford UK put on it and they could never get it working. Said it broke his heart that he had to send it back.
To bad so sad, no response.
That must mean what we all suspect.
Jeeps are the greatest pound for pound & dollar for dollar 4x4's in the world.
Top Gear U.K has in fact reviewed the jeep by not reviewing it at all.
Silence is led to consent. Victory by silence & superior engineering.
Top Gear U.K bias nil American skill wins out over the mythology of Brittany again.
Congrats on the win Jeeple:-)
