My take on 4" LED spot lights.

This past Sunday I decided to buy some 4" LED spot lights for my jeep. They arrived today and I got to work on the installation. I was not expecting much from these small lights do to them only being 1280 lumens. http://db.tt/MjIssWJY
This is a picture of my headlights and that classroom is about 300' from my driveway. http://db.tt/iA0leEOx
This is a picture with my headlights and new spot lights. http://db.tt/e1o2uQRQ
This is a picture of just the spot lights. http://db.tt/JBA3DFJ7 I can honestly say that this lights surpassed my expectations and they are at the very minimun double the brightness of my headlights.

Today I also ordered my new 35 MTRs and new metal cloak front fenders to hopefully go out to watch some of the KOH race.:)

Any pics of your installation, and did you install a SPOD?

I'm planning on installing the D2's myself next month prior to heading back to Ocotillo.

Kool glad to hear ur happy with ur LEDs...
I gave some 4 or 5 inch LED floods to my son for Christmas for his jeep. I checked them out after he put them on and I've gotta tell ya that I was very sad that I didn't get myself a pair.....I picked the up off eBay at a good price ...even better if I would've got four.

SPOD? I'm not familiar with what that is. I can take pictures of how I wired everything up and the switch I used later on today. The switch I have was purchased at autozone(I know some are not fans of this store) but the switch itself is probably 1mm thick by 1square inch. It comes with 4 slots for different accessories. Extremely easy to hook up.

I hear ya on the not getting 4. They are extremly bright for their size. The guy I got them from is a vendor on pirate. For $99 I gave them a try and don't regret a cent of it. The only thing that sucks is that I had to pay the CA tax.

4x4 SPOD Since 2005 - The ORIGINAL JEEP Over The Windshield Switch Console - Jeep Power Distribution System

It is the way I'm going once installed it will make adding additional lights, onboard air, etc. easy. But yes, I'd like to see your install.

Does the SPod include a fuse? You may also want to consider adding a relay.

Thats pretty cool but a little on the high price for me. My switch module only has 4 buttons but it only cost me less than 30. For onboard air i would not think of using it but for this lights and such its perfect. If i ha the coin for a spod i would definitely like to buy one of those.

Hey Dan, how's it going?

Yes it is fused, and a circuit breaker.

From their website:

12 position terminal block for accessory attachment
6 Bosch (Tyco) cube style relays (SPST 30amp) (plug-in style)
6 ATO style automotive fuses 3 15 amp and 3 30 amp supplied
6 Diodes to protect sensitive accessories such as LED lights from "field collapse"
Inline 50amp manual resetting circuit breaker
8 gauge power leads with crimped and soldered terminal for connection to the battery
Integrated LVCO (Low-Voltage-Cut-Off) circuit that detects the battery voltage and will cut-off at 10.6VDC and cuts-back in at 12.4VDC so there is enough juice to start your vehicle in case you left an accessory on!!!
Fuse for LVCO which can be removed to bypass the LVCO
Mounting bracket for Jeep Wranglers

Its going great. My jeep has really changed since you last saw it. As far as the SPod, I though so, but was not sure. It's a good way to go. Way better than the RATS NEST I just fixed on my jeep from the previous owner. Let me know if you need any help.
BTW, take good notes at Superstition if you go. I would love to go there with you someday. Fred1, are you hearing this???

minisaba 01-11-2013 11:11 PM

I would love to join you guys but I will not be able to run the 35's until i get my new fenders. Metal cloak told me it would be around two weeks. I will join you guys on the next one!

I'll get the pictures of how I installed my lights tomorrow. I just got home and its too cold to be outside.

If anyone needs SPOD help Adrian can help you hook it up no problem. Also put 4" HIDs on my Jeep recently. 3500 lumens. Big difference. Pics in my gallery.
