can locks be installed on the doors?

I have an '89 jeep yj and the factory half doors came with no locks on it. Is it possible to install locks in the door or do i have to buy a new door? if i can how might i be able to do this and what parts would i need?

Try tuffy security products. I was just on their website today and saw some door locks for the TJ, I'm sure they have something similar for the YJ

It's a Jeep the only lock you need is the center console or glovebox (if it's a ragtop).

If you have a soft top don't lock the doors, if someone wants to break in they will cut through your top or window. Happened to a family member and she had to buy a set of door uppers since she couldn't find a single one. If she left the doors unlocked she could've just lost $20 in cds, instead she lost the cds and had to shell out a couple hundred for new windows.

My advice is don't lock a convertible, if you want to lock it get a hardtop and full doors.

x2 I have a tool box bolted where the back seat goes so I can lock my stuff up. Tuffy Glove box will be comming soon. If some wants in your jeep for something they will get in. I had my jeep rummaged through 6 times last year but since I dont lock it my top is still intact.

X100. I had a '71 Olds Cutlass convertible and I hated leaving it unlocked. I never kept anything in it, had my CD player hidden under the seat with a hole in the dash where the radio would be.

And some dirt bags are even too stupid to check to see if the doors are locked. Just last week someone cut a hole in my drivers side window. BOTH DOORS were unlocked. I have a Tuffy center console and overhead compartment and there was nothing inside to steal.

Yup. Had mine gone through 8 times in last 2 months. They made off with a phone charger, cb radio, and laptop (which I miraculously got back a week later). People will steal anything and everything you leave in your jeep. If you want locks, get full doors and a top that can't be opened with a dull butterknife.
