The perfect End of Summer Song (For me anyway)

I have not ever been what you would call a Big Kid Rock fan.

He has had a few songs I liked but nothing I could ever relate to... You see I really dig music that makes me think about things in my own life.

I know this Album has been out for a while but today while I was waiting at the Cleaners listening to Sirius in my Jeep I really listened to the lyrics to this song.

It blew me away at how much of this song I could relate to "Back in the Day"

After the extremely tumultuous Spring and Summer I've had with the whole move and hunting for a Job thing all the ups and downs I have had since March. I can really get into this song....

I'm sure you will hear me cranking it up on the Trail next weekend at the Texas Spur!

What do you guys think of this song and video?

I lived that song...

The Summer of 1981 as I graduated HS

The Summer of 1984 as I finished @ UTEP

And one more time in 1990 when I met Lori in Odessa!

The First Record I ever bought on my own, I was in 7th Grade I found it in a drugstore it was called "Get it ON" it was a Ronco album and had songs like:
  • The Night Chicago Died
  • Me and Mrs Jones
  • Cover of Rolling Stones
  • Sweet Home Alabama!

I played that dang thing until I wore the grooves off!

I have alot of respect for Kid Rock. He may be somewhat controversial, but he's a HUGE supporter of the troops overseas. He does a ton of USO appearances a year for soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen. There are alot of big profile performers that never do anything for us, but Kid Rock is always there to shake hands and immerse himself in our military. And you have no idea what that does for our morale!! Kudos to Kid Rock.

He has some really good songs... he has some really REALLY bad ones too.

Met Kid Rock once, IT was an "after party" they had after the CMT Outlaws concert here in Nashville TN. I was working as a Medic there. So All I had to do is make sure no one OD or anything. Got to sit and talk to him for a few minutes cause we grew up not to far from each other in Michigan. He played the piano with Big and Rich singing. He was really cool. Really laid back. Just another Joe. He didn't act like he was better or anything. Got me some back stage passes. Here are some of the others at the party;

Kid Rock
Big and Rich
Montgomery Gentry
Gretchen Wilson
Hank Jr.
Skeeter Jennings
and probally more I am forgetting, afterall I have only had 1 cup of coffee so far.

Everyone was really cool except Hank Jr. He was an idol growing up. I thought he would be really cool and all but he was an A$$. Treated women like property. he really dissapointed me.

Come on... with classic lyrics like: "Bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy", how can you say he had some "bad" ones?

That's where they're keeping Detroit these days. He sings about Detroit all the time.

sonofabeach 09-07-2008 08:58 PM

nice blend of Werewolves in London and Sweet Home Alabama.

And that Bartender song by Rehab is good. Especially the version with Bocephus.
I like their whole album.

rebelBullDawg325 09-07-2008 11:06 PM

its a good song with grea lyrics. you cant credit the music to him though. but i really liked the song when it first was released, but now that its played 75856656 times a day, its annoying almost

tarheel 09-08-2008 10:42 AM

I like this song even though I am not a huge Kid Rock fan. I like a lot of mid to late 70's southern rock. Country comes really close to that nowadays. Which explains why I listen to country most now:cool:

twojeeps 11-12-2011 05:52 PM

good song
