Hey Jeeper I had the same problem with my 89 yj. Did you ever put the front widshield down. The first thing I did was change the cowl seal under the windshield, then I put a cover over the vent on top of the hood, It helped with some of the problem but on bad days I would have a pool under my drivers foot, I think that when I put the windshield down it sprung the frame or something due to the fact that when i went to put everything back it never quite lined up correctly again sorry if that doesn't help to much but just wanted to let you know what I have done for it

I pulled off the plastic cover in front of the windshield, turned out it was full of tree gunk, that and the drain was zip tied to an electrical line restricting the drainage flow. We'll see how I fair next rain, which should be Wednesday.

Thanks for the help, the window cowl may be the next step!

There is a rubber cowl vent hose on your firewall in the engine compartment. It is flat on the bottom. Take that off and clean it out. I bet it is plugged. Mine did the same thing. I drove around for about three years getting wet feet after it rained and I turned right. I had a bunch of pine needles and leaf chuncks in mine. I learned this trick here at WF.

If you want you can cut the bottom of the hose so that it never gets clogged up again. I got tired of walking into work with swamp shoes so I knifed it. :D

This may sound stupid but mine does the same thing unless I turn the vent direction thing to off. Even with the engine turned off with the vent director turned to 'windshield' it leaks when it rains.
