Transmission Cooler Lines
 
Need some advise, please and thank you.

I had a rough shift as i pulled out of the driveway this morning and didnt think to much of it... i thought maybe i didnt let her warm up enough.

I ran my errands and as i got back in to my jeep I noticed a small wet dot on the ground. I looked and noticed fluid on the lower lines and sure enough its red.

after searching and reading all sorts of forums i figured id ask you guys whats the best fix.

1. ordering new lines and replacing them? ( will these have the same issue later on?)
2. Cut the lines and flare them and use tubing instead?

I've never had to mess with those types of fittings. Looks like they're a compression. I would think that they designed that area to be a flex line for a reason so it may be good to stay flexible. Maybe someone knows better. A flare fitting with plumbing is stronger. I wonder if pepboys has a lonner tool if needed.

Good idea! Santa Fe tool company has cheap tools. If I was a mechanic I'd buy snap on etc, but for a one time job it's them or harbor freight..

Ill post more once I start the patch repair lol

I know that at autozone you can rent tools too

Those are a crimp fitting, not reusable. You'll have to replace the hard line and all either with factory stuff or go somewhere that builds hydraulic lines and get some made.

I can cut the solid line back a bit flare it out and use a hose and clamp. Will last longer than the crimp fitting, thank god for a brother in law who's a mechanic and confirmed what dog said...

That works fine until your flare cuts through the hose and almost instantly empties your tranny. I know this because I've done it. But its your jeep so you can fix it any way you like.

my wifes 2009 had the same problem. It was a recall from the factory. They fixed it for free
