Seeking advice on upgrading sound system

Recently my wrangler was broken into in a string of car burglaries. They broke my head unit trying to get it out and managed to pry my Infinity Basslink out of the back. I had been thinking about upgrading so I guess now is the time to do it. I've been searching through countless amounts of sub advertisements and threads and still can't make up my mind. I think I'm pretty set on the following head unit:

Kenwood KDC-BT652U CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

I like the 3 sets of pre-outs and the bluetooth functions. The sub decision is where I'm having trouble. The Basslink was great while I had it but I'd like something a lot louder and a little clearer so I'm going with a separate sub and amp setup. Any suggestions on types of subs and boxes for very loud and clear bass? I'm looking at about $600 for the setup and am open to single and dual setups in both the 10" and 12" variety, but I do plan on keeping my back seat.

Thanks!

After it was broken into once are you sure you want to invite a second time with some higher grade equipment.

Yes sorry I should have clarified there. I'll be leaving the area I'm in in a couple of months so it won't be a big concern anymore. I'm also ordering a security system with a proximity alarm and setting some money aside to get the windows tinted, making it harder to see in the jeep.

On topic though, how are Kenwood's audio products nowadays?

this is a good combo to put together. SSA makes great subs, these things will take a beating and run great in both ported or sealed enclosures, large or small. this amp is a good fit, it can handle a little more than what the sub could take, and the sub can run at 800 after some break in time. and you still have money for a wire kit.

Jma the links you posted aren't working. Would I be better off with 2 shallow 12's firing into the back seat or 2 down firing 10's?

I have no problem with the links. The sub is a 12" gcon from sound solutions audio. Rated at 750 watt rms. the amp is the skar sk 800.1d. rated at 800 watts. At 1 ohm. The amp is $300 and the sub is $239. The sub would work nice as a dowmfiring sub. Not much to do with a $600 spending limit. Having 2 subs would cost over $600 for something that you can hear with the top down

Ok the situation has changed a bit. I have a choice between an Alpine Type R 10" in a ported enclosure and a JL 10w3 in a sealed enclosure, both firing into the back seat. I'll probably go with a JL or Alpine 500 watt amp for either, and I won't be taking the hard top off a lot. What should I go with?
