Does any one know how to manually shift the auto trams?Every time I manually push lever to left downshifts to say 3 rd and when u stop it shifts to 1 all the time. Also goes to 5. I thought this is a 5 speed is 5 overdrive? Thanks for any help or advise.

Pushing left drops it one from the gear you are currently in.

Once you push it to the left or right, you enter into the manual operation mode. If you hold the shifter to the right for more than a second or two, it will revert back to automatic mode.

It will downshift for you automatically in the manual mode. So if you are in third and stop, it'll downshift to first.

It will not upshift for you automatically in the manual mode. When you stop and it drops to first gear, you then have to upshift it the same as you would a manual transmission.

Fifth gear is an overdrive in that it is less than a 1:1 ratio. My understanding is that it is 0.83:1. However ,the 2012+ automatic does not have a O/D lock out option like the earlier versions.

What Mike said.

The auto downshift as you slow down seems to just be a convenience/safety thing. Thus, you can downshift manually but you must upshift manually...and you can kick it back to full auto by holding to the right. It seems to also allow you to choose either 1st or 2nd as a starting gear from a dead stop...but I have only played with it a bit...so others may know more.

Regarding OD lockout, Mike is correct, there is no button, but you can downshift to 4th from 5th and it will not go back into 5th unless you manually upshift or kick it back into full auto. Of course, if you slow down quite a bit, it will downshift further...and you will then need to manually upshift back to 4th after you speed up or put in full auto and then kick back to 4th again when you get to your desired speed.

Not exactly as convenient as an OD lockout button, but it will work when you are on a hilly stretch. That said, I have never felt compelled to do so. The 3.6L and 4.1 axle ratios rock. :thumb:

Steve and Mike I thank you very much for the explain now I understand completely.I can cycle from 1. And 2 when stopped and now understand why it does not up shift any more until you do manually thanks again.

Also, it wil revert back to auto mode if you shift to neutral and back to D. I was playing with the autostick yesterday and I didn't know how to get out of it as I was driving along. I let up on the gas, did the neutral trick and it worked.

Another key feature seems to be that anytime anyone in the passenger seat reaches for something on the back seat, they must knee the gear lever into manual mode.
