Type of Fuel in Middle East
 
I'm currently in Bahrain. They offer two types of fuel here, Jeddiay (or something like that) and Mumtaz. From what I understand, Mumtaz has a higher octane but the Jeep typically sticks to regular fuel (Jeddiay).

Which fuel should I request when I pull up to the gas pumps?

More or less the same here in Kuwait. Most pumps have "Mumtaz" (92 octane) and "Super" (95 octane). We also have "ultra super" (98 octane) but I think its too much for a Jeep..

Here in Dubai we have Super (98) and Special (95).

I've been told by a few people to use Special and then every 5 or so visits to the pumps to use Super as it cleans the system a bit better.

I don't think that it makes it cleaner as much as makes it run smoother. Here's a quotation from wikipedia:

The wiki quote is accurate. Octane has nothing to do with cleaning that's the detergents job and different brands use different detergents. It all has to do with engine compression ratios. High engine compression require high octane or it will ( diesel) self ignite without the spark plug just from the heat of the air/fuel being compressed. A engine may even lose performance by going to high or to low.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder what fuel I should use for the 3.8L V6... Will probably use 95 octane for it

(Unless someone has a better suggestion)

That's a good choice. Specially because the aid temp is same as the sun there. Have fun, good luck.

Thanks, yeah the summers here can get as hot as 55-60 degrees Celsius under the sun and 45 degrees in the shade. Many cars go through hell during our summers (melting interior, tire wear, etc)
