2006 golden eagle edition

hey guys i was posting the thread about the non offroad lift before and got a lot of help. i just bought my jeep it's a 06 golden eagle edition. my new question is do i shop for a wrangler sport lift or a rubicon lift since the golden eagle has the danna 44 axle and the 4.11 gears

vwlos 01-26-2013 03:09 PM

Just make sure it's a lift for the TJ generation wrangler, the model (sport, rubicon, Sahara, etc) doesn't matter

DevilDogDoc 01-26-2013 03:23 PM

Unless it was regeared it does not have 4.11's

3.73 gears are stock on an 06 golden eagle sport

mike25 01-27-2013 01:07 AM

heir 3.73s?? oh honestly thats better for me as a daily driver better milage nice. i read online on a couple different websites/ forums that they came with 4.11s because of the dana 44 rear. but 3.73s are sweet. i kind of want to lift it but because i ended up buying an eagle i wanna keep it stock looking. it's midnight blue wiht 92,000 miles. and it's really really clean it was a one owner car and the guy who bought it new was in his late 50s so it wasn't abused. what do you guys think about a rancho 2.5inch lift with 33x10.50 tires i want to keep it looking stock with a little bit higher ride hieght and beefy looking but not 33x12.50 they stick out way too much for me. would i have to re gear it then or will the 3.73s pull it no problem i don't want to lose alot of power by lifting it ad putting bigger tires because i was happy when i went up a long steep hill on the high way in 6th gear and put my foot down a little more and it climbed no problem. i will post pics as soon as i clean it up because it just snowed here in jersey yesterday so theres salt everywhere. im so happy with the purchase :punk:

For 33s you would be better off with 4.10s or 4.56s, the 3.73s are good up to 32s basically. Im running 31s no lift on mine, threw the odo and speedo off a small amount.

Pass on Rancho. Look at Old Man Emu (OME) springs and shocks. 3.73s with those tires will be marginal. I have 4.10s with skinny 33s and its marginal at best.

mike25 01-27-2013 11:48 AM

so what kind of setup would be good if i don't want to re gear because like i said i wanna keep it stock ish i don't want to have to re gear it im trying to keep it as original as possible

mike25 01-27-2013 11:59 AM

id love to be able to go 2 inch or 2.5 inch with 33s without re gearing what would happen if i left the 3.73 gears is it the tires or the lift that wont work with the gears? like could i do a 2 inch or 2.5inch with maybe 31s or 32s and so no to little difference, and what kind of difference would i be seeing less power? worse gas milage? sorry for all the questions guys im an information whore lol

06GoldenEagle 01-27-2013 12:10 PM

its not the ideal gearing for 33s but it will move it, just expect to use 4th and 5th more than 6th im imagining anything up hill or getting up to cruising speed. the speedo and odo will be off saying you are going slower than with the stock 30s. gas mileage will probly fall off some

mike25 01-27-2013 12:16 PM

so then what would be ideal for 3.73s with minimul powerloss and gas milage, maybe a 2 inch or 2.5 with 32s im hoping? lol p.s. i will be posting pics later today

mike25 01-27-2013 12:18 PM

and i would re gear the speedo because i heard thats like a $15 part

06GoldenEagle 01-27-2013 12:23 PM

The lift you need for 33s is at least 2in. Im not sure about changing the speedo gear in the trans for the tire size. Optimal size for 3.73s is the stock 30s, 31s no problem 32 probly get away with even. Just the larger the size, the heavier they become and more effort it takes to turn them, and its better to get a gear set that is made to turn them at the correct rpm rather than working the trans and killing gas mileage.

mike25 01-27-2013 04:45 PM

so i woulds say then my 2 options would be leave it stock and get 31s or 2 inch lift with 32s. right? the 373s would be okay for 32s with a 2 inch lift maybe even id do a 2 inch with 31s

06GoldenEagle 01-27-2013 06:24 PM

32s you need the lift also, 31s fit without. I dont see a point to a 2in lift and 31s just makes more gap in the wheel well and if you arent going to flex it it really isnt needed.

how much u pay if u dont mind me asking? and mile

no that i reread i seen 92k miles lol

mike25 01-29-2013 04:31 PM

I payed 12900 before taxes with 92,000 miles 6 speed manual. And its all in immaculate shape the top is either brand new or just that well taken care of, same goes for the paint not a single ding, dent, scratch etc, and the ravine rims are spotless.

06GoldenEagle 01-29-2013 04:31 PM

I paid 14500 for mine a year ago with 68k miles on it

kyle32 01-29-2013 04:37 PM

i i am looking at is 95k and the want 11,900.. it needs new top tho

how many of them are they? the golden eagles not tops lol

06GoldenEagle 01-30-2013 08:19 AM

1 year only, not sure on production numbers. White, black, green and blue were made.

mike25 01-30-2013 10:00 AM

Yeah I'd love to know the production numbers but it seems you can't find that info anywhere. Yeah I've read that it was black green blue and white but I've never seen a green

Melvis 06-20-2013 06:39 AM

06 Golden Eagle. I paid 14,500 for mine, with 58,000 miles, some damage to front passenger fender, broken sway bar link, and dents in transfer case skid plate. I did get a hard and soft top with it. All stock except 31" Mickey Thompson Baja MT. Awesome tire. My experience is tires are the most important addition to the vehicle. I see people with high lifts and bald tires just spinning their wheels, literally. I try and keep it clean inside and out but its just too much fun to drive.

I feel guilty but I have been driving this through the streams and swamps of northern MN all summer. I should take better care of it.
