2013 Rubicon Hood - Need this!

1 Attachment(s)
This is the hood I have been looking to add onto my 2012 Sahara. Anyone know where/how to order it?

rethyk 01-28-2013 03:52 AM

pretty sure you'll be able to order it through the stealership / mopar parts counter. as for other places that remains to be seen tho my guess is we should see quite a few places carry it soon

allblackedout 01-28-2013 03:55 AM

I think that hood is unique to the 10A wrangler and can't be ordered seperatly just yet.

ArcticEOD 01-28-2013 04:48 AM

It's the first thing that caught my eye with the 10A Rubicon. Very nice!

spesrf25 01-28-2013 06:47 AM

I like that it has the windshield mounts on the hood. It's definitely very sharp!

Yours doesn't?

dukedallas 01-28-2013 08:08 AM

Looks like a ripoff of the AEV with the vents moved.

uhear 01-28-2013 08:27 AM

I'm guessing it is going to be an AEV product. They are already a supplier and obviously can design and mfg a hood like this.

matt87951 01-28-2013 08:32 AM

What I heard is that you would not be able to purchase this hood unless you were a 10A owner. Of course that might not be true, but that is just what I have heard. I ordered my 10A anyways, so I'm set - but for those of you trying to buy this hood from Mopar, I personally wouldn't hold my breath on being able to buy it.

Sounds like hearsay. Maybe it's true for now before the 10A's are released but I'm pretty sure all parts are available after awhile; that is, if the companies like money - and they do.

Exactly, I am not sure - thats just what I was told. I was also told that you can't buy the hood from the COD Jeep's either. Not sure if that's true either, I never went to Jeep to see if it's available for purchase, as I have no need to look into that!

I will say I am a bit selfish, and actually hope that the hood will not available for the general population, as it's the main thing that sets the 10A apart from other Jeep's in the lineup (Sure there are bumpers too, but the hood is really noticeable).

This is NOT AEV Stuff. Completely Mopar. All done in house now hood and bumpers.

craigwieck 01-28-2013 09:55 AM

I am willing to bet that after the jeep is out you will be able to by one. If not from the dealer some aftermarket company will come out with one just like it.

COD parts are vin specific to order. Bumpers on anniversary are suppose to be orderable for purchase late summer.:D Have not heard anything on the hood yet but it is Mopar not AEV.

COD hood is an AEV hood, however the AEV is actually nicer because of the vents. On my longlist.

scipio337 01-28-2013 10:04 AM

You can peruse the 10A thread, but the consensus is that you'll need a 10A VIN to order.

Can you explain a bit more? I was under the impression that the hood that is actually ON the COD Jeep's do not have vents? I know AEV now sells one that does have the vents. The Hood on the 10A has the proper vents (Functional) from factory. Maybe I am miss-understanding what you are saying.

That's what I was thinking, but I guess we'll wait and see.

Windshield mounts?

I should've specified. I was comparing to the AEV hood without the windshield footman loop and bumper things to lay down the windshield. My bad!!!:thumb:

My understanding MOPAR used AEV for their bumpers for the COD and the MOAB editions. They were AEV stamped hoods without the vent screens. On the 10A EDITION Mopar has done all of this in house with their hood design and bumpers. A couple of people on the AEV forum had posted this.

what's to stop water from running down into the vents? It seems like all these hoods with vents would have a water issue.

How would that be an issue? The intake is on the side.

Well I get what you mean but uneccessary amounts of water freely flowing into my engine compartment can lead to other issues I would imagine. Rust for one.

nwbronco 01-28-2013 05:36 PM

Take a look under the hood of the 3.6L The engine cover is huge and there is nothing else in front of it. Water would just run down the front of the engine cover.

Roger that. I was waiting for someone to say that it would just be diverted somewhere out of the way but I wasn't certain. Thanks.

Doctorsti 01-28-2013 06:18 PM

The good and bumpers are made by quality metalcrafters I've heard.

Water going in a strategically placed vent is no problem at all for an engine bay. My Subaru STI has a 3-4 inch tall by 14 inch hood scoop and has sucked in 8 years of water day and night. Not a single bit of rust or problem, engines are designed to tolerate water. Every one of them.

Anyone have a part number on this?

No part # available. Once the 10A is actually produced...there MAY be a chance to buy it from MOPAR.

Silverton34 01-28-2013 09:22 PM

After the 10a's are out for a little bit your dealer will be able to get you the hood using any of the vin's from 10a's he has sold. It's done all the time on special edition vehicles. He will route you through his body shop for the proper paper trail.
