I got a 2008 that has about 25K miles, and I recently noticed a very slight quiet high pitched hum/ring whenever my foot is on the accelerator. The noise only shows up when my foot is on it, as when I ease off, it stops. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be/how to fix it? Its not a pressing issue I dont think, but I would like to make sure that nothing serious is wrong.

Does it go away once the engine/exhaust warms up, by chance?

Probobly the throw out bearing on the clutch plate. Wouldn't worry about it.
Mine rang and sang under just the right amount of gas pedal for 40,000 miles until I had the clutch replaced and a new throwout bearing put in.
Now all I hear is the music of mud terrain hum.
Humming while under power can be related to the ring and pinion in the differential. The backlash isn't set correctly or may have originally been at one end of the tolerance and wear took it out of spec.

Automatic or manual trans?
I noticed a ring as well on mine, but I just can't place it yet and it's so small I hardly notice it either.
