Olympia trails

Anyone know any pretty easy trails or cool places to take a stock jeep?

nwbronco 02-04-2013 11:03 AM

Nothing much around here. Straddleline ORV Park. More of a course for KOH points runs. Then Tahuya. In the spring the Natches Trail will open up.

Tahuya is stock friendly. There's a few pucker spots but for the most part a stock wrangler can handle it. Anything hard and out of your comfort level has a bypass.

I plan on doing Tahuya this Saturday in my stock wrangler! First run everrrrrrr haha so if you see me just steer clear! Ill be an excited mess.

How was it

HecticWrangler 02-17-2013 10:55 PM

It was fun!!! Tinkham road was so tranquil... It was like an hour ride with a few stops to let the dog out and explore the woods. Definitely full of snow and no turning around so make sure you know you won't want to turn back. I have a couple videos ill try to post to YouTube. Definitely an easy ride.... And my phone had service the whole time. :)

HecticWrangler 02-17-2013 11:09 PM

I don't think I did very good on the video but my username for YouTube is hecticwins.

Tyler237 02-17-2013 11:45 PM

What's the video called

HecticWrangler 02-17-2013 11:53 PM

Tinkham 2-16-13........ But itll probably be better to just go to my account to find it.

Thanks! Were gonna have to get together one of these days and have a jeep adventure. I got a buddy is almost done fixing his and then we want to get a few trips going sooner than later

nwbronco 04-18-2013 12:18 AM

There are a few of us in the area.

There's a pretty cool cut away trail in the black hills. It's a straight shot but great for working technique. Bigger rigs would find it boring. Stock rigs get a great challenge. Directions are tricky but next time I go ill post a grid or map image.

As far as I know they're legal (with discover pass). Maintained also.

Capital forest, we went up from the waddell creek side all the to the peak and came out rock candy side. Tons of fun the hole we got stuck in doesn't look like much but the moment you roll into it, it just drops.

Hey guys I'm in Shelton and just got my first wrangler, not new to wheeling by no means but a new born member of the jeep community.... I'd also like to join up and go wheeling with other jeeps around the area

nwbronco 05-03-2013 11:49 PM

Heading to Tahuya Sunday, May 5th. Posted a thread about it. You are more than welcome to come along. Discovery Pass required.

Bob K.

Billmummey 05-04-2013 10:33 PM

When did a discovery pass become required? I've wheeled there many times thoughout the years and have never been told I needed one or asked if I had one, maybe I just got lucky... I finished all the pieces for my front bumper today and will do the final welding in the morning about 8am... I feel naked with no winch so I hope to have it all on and ready to go but I don't know where I can buy a discovery pass between now and then so maybe I should wait I don't know... Suggestions???

I think you can buy them anywhere! Walmart, Fred Meyer

nwbronco 05-05-2013 10:38 AM

It is a 50/50 chance. We have been asked for it in the staging area a couple of times. And once on the trail. It is $124 for not having one. As Free mentioned, they are just about every where.

Bob K.

YJJMcK 05-13-2013 12:48 AM

yeahhhhhh i was up by Elbe hills and didnt have my discover pass..... $99.... dont chance it... you can get the discover pass and the northwest forest pass for a grand total of $60... or the damn ticket for $99...it is well worth the time and money.
