Timberline 02-07-2013 09:43 AM

Anxious to see, as I might do the same with my bezels.

allen456 02-07-2013 09:52 AM

Looking good. The black grille looks great on that color. I did mine with the bedliner spray. tough look. Congrats on the new tj!

I see you have the wider fender flares too. Any plans on going with bigger tires? Nice Jeep! I sprayed my bezels and headlight guards the other day. I'd post pics, but the ole girl is covered in road salt from the friggin weather around here the last couple days. Might go was her off today.

maybe when these go....I was actually considering getting rid of these and getting the Bushwacker type...

oh yeah....I said I wouldn't mod the Jeep like I did the Corvettes :whistling:

I would also like to see some pics of a red TJ with a black grille - I was debating doing this all summer, but my Plasti-dippin' days are over until all the snow melts up here. I would be a bit weary of plasti-dip on the grille/headlight bezels, they will probably be assaulted by rocks and highway debris. I painted my headlight bezels with krylon fusion flat black last spring, and it's already chipping and showing chrome through in places because of rock chips. Plasti-dip does work well for items that you aren't sure if it will look good, because you can peel it off, but I don't see it holding up long term on the grille. Either way, you can always bedline it next time if you do like it! I plasti-dipped my wheels, pretty much the same ones as yours, and they look amazing; you should try it out - really gives the Jeep a bit more aggressive of a look.

here's an orange TJ with black grill, close to red. Also did the door and window hinges.

I like how that is done on the hood to "pull it together". The problem with just doing only the grill is that is looks out of place like an unpainted new part. (Kinda like a Honda Civic with a black hood.)

yeah thats why I was http://images.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/lol.gif ......when I got it and the GF saw the chrome she said it would look better in black and I said, "well buy the black one" :D then we discussed cost and that ended that :D....I pulled the chrome piece off and as I feared there was some damage to the paint which you couldn't see in the pics...I could live with it but figured WTF...plasti dip it and if it gets screwed up oh well...and we all know you can't do just one piece :whistling:

2 pop out plugs and 2 bolts and I am back to Chili Pepper

I'm guessing 2 dozen cans

tstanfill 02-07-2013 05:00 PM

Had a local shop do it. Got stuff from dipyourcar.com

kosmo04 02-18-2013 04:58 PM

You can get the supplies in gallons off the website, and do it yourself as well. I'm planning on doing my jeep in their clear, that way it retains the stock color yet it will have that matte finish-all for about $150. You'll need a paint gun but that's it, and to have the least bit of over spray possibly so you don't waste it, I'd mask, even though you really don't have to.
