Went up to the mountains last weekend, and put two cracks in my soft top back window, pulling my snowboard out.. Going to replace the whole top when spring hits.. since its due for an upgrade..Any recommendations? Was thinking quadratec replace a top with tinted windows..?

kind of depends on how much you want to spend. On both my jeeps, I have replaced the factory tops with Rampage replacement top. the last one I picked up on Amazon for 270 with soft upper doors, tinted windows, and free shipping too. I would prefer to have a sailcloth since they tend to be quieter, but couldn't justify the price. I don't mind the rampage. It serves it's purpose. Living in texas, Most of the year my top is down too.

Yeah, I'm looking at spending up to about 400, I think that the quadratec replace a top is 300.. I will look into the rampage. Thank you... Oh and I have hard doors, 2002 tj

I guess now that you brought up price.. I'm also curious of what makes some tops so much more money. I know quadratec usually makes good quality products.. Seeing some of these tops for 700 dollars I don't quite get it...

Price usually has to do with the thickness of the material. I am sure some may be better quality wise, but I have had zero issues with the rampage. Bestop is definitely the best quality as they make the OEM tops. I don't know anything about the quadratec tops as they just recently starting making those. Here's a link to what I purchased from amazon.

Now that I saw the rampage I'm more confused lol. I still think I should look into quadratec since they have the warranty and all that jazz.. So if anyone has experience with the quadratop that would be awesome!! Thanks again!

Crazyflyingplastics 02-07-2013 09:01 AM

Looks like they quadratec comes with a 3 year warranty and about the same price, def better than the 1 year for rampage. I would have bought the quadratop, but it wasn't available when I needed a new one. I bet it will be the same thickness as the Rampage though. The quietest tops will be made from sail cloth. You may want to check into the frameless tops too. Seem to have lots of positive reviews.

I got the Quadratec replacement top this past fall and have nothing but good things to say about it. Just make sure that the top is warm and or your replace it on a warm day...

Yeah that's why I planned on waiting until the warm weather hits.. The tops are next to impossible to deal with in the cold.. Which is probably why my window cracked in the first place

Found this rampage, they call it a trail top but is not frameless which I'm okay with but why is it considered a trail top if it used factory hardware? And is sailcloth..,

I'm sorry don't know how I missed it, it is frameless Haha oopss

Blsport7 02-07-2013 11:38 AM

Now this brings the question.... Frameless with sail cloth? Or the replacement top using factory frame?!?

Crazyflyingplastics 02-08-2013 08:41 AM

I've never had the frameless, so not sure. There are some good threads on here with the pros and cons of the frameless. I've heard a lot say the frameless seems quieter. The con I believe is its not as easy to put up. I like being able to put my soft top up in 2 mins if I get stuck in the rain. I think it's also a bit more of a challenge to install. The one that uses the frame,is pretty quick and easy install

You'll find some people crapping on Bestop every now and then in threads like these.

Before any of those folks has a chance to pop up in this thread, I'd like to point out that I ran my Supertop through the outer areas of Hurricane Sandy at highway speeds with zero problems.

I took it off for the winter about a month later. I can't wait to get it back on this Spring (six weeks early, if Punxsutawney Phil is right).
