Northern Ohio?

Baumhart Road Vermilion, Ohio

Anyone go back in those woods? I see a lot of wheelers, but sometimes see some 4X4's heading off that way. Just curious...

i don't know, i would like to know more tho since vermillion isnt that far from toledo, and even closer to my family in cleveland area.

Robocon 10-01-2008 09:11 PM

You could always come to JeepSkool and wheel LEGAL!:)

GeneralTJWillys 10-12-2008 12:03 PM

I second Jester's comment! I, too, have family in the Cleveland area. Not far from "East -of-Toledo" that I call home.:punk:

Well... While on 6(on the Lake) you would head south on Baumhart Rd. There are a set of tracks you go under before you get to route 2. Right before those track to the right is one of the main ways to get in. Have not been back there... I have been told many times there are some really tuff spots. I just now got my Jeep in the air. Think I am going to get a spare before I'd head down there. No trouble seems to happen. I've heard that we are being allowed in there. But I don't know any more than rumors. I couldn't make it stock just to get in there.

So tell me more about upcoming events? This weekend I'll be working... untill about 3pm Saturday. So how's the schedule for the day? Would it be worth going so late? Is this a stay the night event? What other events you guys got going on? If one of you guys might be interested in giving those woods a lil look I'd be willing to try it. Send me a PM. 2.5" BB and 32"s. Other than that it's stock. So she wont go through everything. But could be used as an anchor if you guys got a winch. I have a small come'a'long and a tow strap. There are woods, but I think they are young. Not a whole lot of trees to use I've heard.

Keep the place clean so we can continue wheelin! :punk:

Mud Dan,

Not sure where you received your info about us, but, WE GOT TREES!
I am the property manager and I do not tolerate a "dirty" place. So rest assured that I run a tight ship. Hope to see you out on the LEGAL trails.

Oh no... I was not talking about your site... I am talking about over in Vermilion. This is the first I've heard of Jeep Skool.

So... would it be worth getting off of work, heading down there, pitching a tent, and gettin as muddy as I can?

x98cobra 10-15-2008 11:27 PM

so no one aswered my question.. is this the only event b4 winter hits or will there be another

Robocon 10-15-2008 11:39 PM

If you think watching an XJ get shot down by a 50 cal is cool. I would call off work myself. :)

We will have events thru the winter months.

MudDan 10-19-2008 10:41 AM

Do post pics of the weekend there!

Hi Guys, I know I'm a few months behind, but do not consider Vermilion. For years the law didn't pay attention to the area, but lately the home owners bordering this area have called the police. The police have in turn called the railroad, who actually owns the only parking area. Vehicles have been towed and citations handed out over the last 3 months or so. If it continues I'm sure someone will be made an example of by confiscating their ride.

I haven't been to Jeep Skool yet, but will be heading there in the spring. I have a plow on my jeep and can't risk down time if it snows.

Like Robo said, LEGAL TRAILS.

86ford 12-14-2008 01:02 AM

yea, ol baumhart road is in serious question due to some rumors i heard BUT it is partially a old road so its not 100% illegal. that place is NOT stocker friendly in the least. if you dont want scratches, dents, water coming inside the jeep, broken parts or a VERY long nite stay clear! please! i get to many bad stories and newbies turned off to wheeling because of that place. go to jeep skool! robo is a good guy and runs a good place. i have been there twice and hopefully will return in jan. jeep skool is safe for every vehicle if you want it to be and for those of us who dont mind glass ever were and broken parts its fun also.

been to vermilion quite a bit, once on a quad(super fun) and in my buddies jeep.the locals all mud there and if you do it during the day they all tell me the people that live around there don't mind it's the inconciderate guys that are throwing partys and getting loud after dark that they call the cops on.And that was a member of the neighborhood that told me that directly,i met him out on those trails during a sat afternoon, we went back to his house and shot the sh@t and had beers afterward!it is NOT for a stock jeep nor a newbi and should be treated with the comman sense and respect that any other land you don't own is. now tell me more about this jeep skool and where it is held!!

Robocon, what are the requirements to run trails?

My main concern is lack of a full size spare. I'm on 35's but my spare is a 32. By next month I may not even be running with a spare.

I've got recover rings on the front, and a rear tow hook.

What else is required?
