Moved to Littleton

Hey guys I just moved back to Littleton Colorado. I am looking for a fair and honest mechanic in the area. Can anyone please suggest some places other then the dealerships? Thanks again for your input!!!

I have dealt with pro auto. They treated me well. They are right across the street from A.C.C. east of the conoco gas station.

Do you guys go up on the weekends anywhere close? I would like to find a couple of wheeling and camping buddies. I do have a couple of kids and would like to do some with them and some with out them(god knows i can use the peace time). I remember as a kid going muffing up by rampart, but I think that was all built on now?

We do a lot in the summer. Usually on Sundays.

There's also the meetup.com site. I'm part of a 4x4 enthusiasts group there and we are actually going down to Bailey tomorrow. It'll actually be my first trip since moving to Co. so I'm psyched. There is a membership fee of 20 bux, you don't necessarily have to pay. If I like the group real well I might. But being new to Colorado and Just buying a YJ with no winch, I need to go in a group, Just in case ya know. Be sure to browse through the Co section of Wrangler forum because people do try to put groups together off and on. :thumb:

Welcome!

Hey man... I'm in a similar boat. I'm in the process of moving to Englewood (my fiance is already living there), which I believe is just one town over.

:wavey:Welcome!!
we wheel almost every weekend somewhere throughout the summer. there is always someone ready to go. Rampart is still open for wheeling. just have to be careful after the weather breaks. lots of ATV and MC guys over there.
keep an eye on the forum and you will see lots going on as soon as the trails start to open up....
glad to see ya here. where are you moving from and what kind of experience do you have?

Sinister6 03-23-2013 12:07 PM

I heard rampart was closed and built on? Is there still some mudding up there? Or what's still available to use?

Colo-TJ 03-24-2013 08:35 PM

there are still all kinds of trails in there. I'm not sure of all the FS road #s. there are so many. I'll let someone that runs it a lot chime in.....but I assure you that it isn't closed.

Rampart is close from Colorado Springs to Woodland Park...because of the Waldo Fire. 307 which runs behind Rampart Res is also closed...not sure why, Damn Forest Service.

Ran Rampart Road to the north 2 weeks ago, heavy snow and packed ice in places...very doable.

Justin04Lj 03-24-2013 09:42 PM

They don't want anyone back there especially when they suspect the fire was set intentionally.

Colo-TJ - you said earlier you guys go out wheeling just about every weekend... is there room for a stock TJ on those trips? I'm hoping to add some mods soon but with my fiance in college there is not a lot of extra money.

ChiliJeep - I'll be out there in 2 weeks, I'll definitely drop you a line. Really looking forward to meeting some people and getting out on some trails. Only had my jeep for 7 months and during that time lived in Kansas and didn't have much of an opportunity to get out.

Few of us still stock mostly.. and in a similar financial situations lol. Hope to see you out on some of the runs.

Another welcome from the Colorado Springs area. My GF lives in Littleton and I know of a few trails around there, although just the ones from Traildamage.com . But a few I want to hit open up in April so I would be more than happy if you tagged along.

cballou 03-25-2013 11:29 AM

Thank you for the welcomes... I've always wanted a jeep and to get out on some trail rides but everyone says not to go alone, which I totally understand. On the same token there is always that fear of trying something new with people who are much more experienced. Hopefully getting introduced a bit thought forum first will help with that. Can't wait to be moved out there in a couple of weeks and meeting up for some runs!

Running with experienced fellas and seeing how they tackle obstacles is a great way to learn. Just watch see if they hit something hard, or if they crawl through it. Following an experienced fella that also takes care of their rig and doesn't hot rod is going to go a long ways. going out not knowing what you are doing and not paying attention to how the experience fellas do it will end up costing you a lot of $$

Good point! I am excited to learn. And as an added bonus getting out with my stock rig lets me figure out where my immediate upgrade needs are! You know, spend what little money I have where it will have the most effect.

Enough of me hijacking the thread, hopefully we'll have plenty of time to chat either on here or out on a run... Did Chili ever find a good mechanic in the Littleton area?

Colo-TJ 03-25-2013 03:40 PM

I've said it many times.......The trail dictates the next upgrade
Proven over and over.

X2. Any advice on u joints? Got a nasty squeak developing in the rear of my front drive shaft. At least that's where I've narrowed it down too.

Ummmmmm.....Replace it? :D:D

Colo-TJ 03-25-2013 07:53 PM

Rollie had that too. he replaced his and it went away. its kinda a pia to get to the bolts on the transfer case end. you can do it without taking off the skid but they are on the back side of the yoke.

Colo-TJ 03-25-2013 07:57 PM

I would probably get a spicer for that one.......should be a 1310
