bestop supertop problem

i have an 89 jeep yj and i just bought a bestop supertop to replace the factory hardware and skin. when putting it together, ive noticed that closing the door has turned into slamming the door as hard as possible and it barely closes the door. is this normal or is there something i did wrong? i talked to my friend that has a jeep tj with the same top and he says his isn't like that. i also plan to get full doors, do i have to just get the door surrounds and that be it? what all do i need? please respond with any information

I have a super top, and I have to slam the full doors pretty good to get them to shut all the way. They seal really well though. I have never heard of surrounds that work with the super top. Interested to hear if anyone else has.

well what if i wanted to get full doors, would i have to do anything else for the soft top? ill admit the supertop is a much quieter and draft free ride than my old 23 year old factory soft top but it doesn't seem normal to have to slam a door that hard just to close it.

You could adjust the door catch, towards the outside of the body. Not a lot of adjustment there without looking like your door is not closed.

I have the supertop and I switch between the half doors with the soft uppers and Full hard doors all the time. Both I have to shut pretty hard. but they do seal really well. With the half uppers I have to almost slam it shut. I looked and nothing is binding and I think that the frames when new are angled slightly in so that they will flex and seal better. With those doors on I never have a leak. With the full doors and heavy rain and I have a little leakage. So if you measured the distance from your windshield to your rear and that measurement was in specs I would say all is normal.
