Thats a good link talking about it. If you guys head out there let me know.

JackNCoke 02-27-2013 01:09 PM

Yeah iv been out to the Croatan (no clue how to spell it either). But it was alright we hit a trail that had a creek running down the right side of the trail. Pretty fun tail but kind of short. Then we hit another little 2-track and 3 of the 6 jeeps I was with got tickets for driving down it. Myself and the other jeeps didn't get tickets cause we hasn't turned down the trail yet. But the tickets ended up costing them $200 a piece. So it's pretty risky.

oranglewrangler 03-01-2013 07:47 PM

So need less to say its not worth it

oranglewrangler 03-01-2013 07:48 PM

??

jolayiv 03-01-2013 09:02 PM

I guess not. I always see guys running up and down catfish muddy as hell so I guess it is to some folks.

oranglewrangler 03-01-2013 09:18 PM

I'm still gonna need down that way lol idc

oranglewrangler 03-01-2013 09:18 PM

Meant Head that way

jolayiv 03-01-2013 09:51 PM

What time do think you might be going? I might pass up the mountain bike to head out there too

oranglewrangler 03-02-2013 08:51 AM

I have a tattoo appointment at 2 so it might not be today

oranglewrangler 03-02-2013 08:53 AM

I think we need to have like a get together and go eat or something.

JackNCoke 03-03-2013 12:40 AM

In my opinion it's not worth driving all the way out to the Croatan, just to risk getting a ticket. Wish there were more places to ride around here. I did see some jeeps coming off of a powerline road off of Dawson's cabin road. There were for sure doing some trail riding back there, but again not sure if it was legal or not.

I hear ya. Well I plan on taking another trip out to Uwharrie. It won't be in April because I have a small DET out to Boise. You girls down for a trip in say May or June? Get there on a Friday wheel Saturday morning and night leave Sunday whenever the alcohol wears off.

oranglewrangler 03-03-2013 05:08 PM

Sounds like a plan

JustinApperson 03-13-2013 05:57 PM

MAStephens89 03-14-2013 07:29 PM

Ya, I was told you can purchase a permit to ride the approved trails but can still get a ticket for riding the non approved (200$ a pop!). The permit is 30$ from I was told.

jolayiv 03-16-2013 05:58 PM

According to the forestry site they are for vehicles with a wheel base less than 80". I have been hearing a lot about the power lines lately. I have no idea if that's legal.
