Goong to smaller tires.. Few ?s

1993 YJ 2.5L.... Currently running 35x12.5x5 on stock gears. We all know about the lack of power and "performance" to use the term loosely, or lack of a better word. I'm going to drop to 33x12.5x15. it's not a fix but I'm sure the 33s will at least be slightly better than the 35s. And they will be easier in the stock axles. I am eventually going to either swap, or regear. Just not right now.

I'm thinking of going with BFG All Terrain T/A. And im getting these tires fir free. Otherwise I'd just keep my 35s on. This switch isn't going to cost me a penny.

How do these perform off road? They are less aggressive than what I'm running now, hoping by going a little smaller I can relieve some stress on my old 93.

I've got about 4 inches of lift currently, will 33s look tiny? Anyone have pics of a similar setup?

Dropping down a size is not a bad thing. Not sure what type of needs you have in a tire but the AT KO is a great multipurpose tire by all means.

I second that. They're a great multi-purpose tire, they work exceptionally well in snow and icy conditions as well.

Daily driver, some trails, in the woods deer hunting. I don't plan on doing any serious rock crawling or anything like that

Will my rig look goofy with the 33s and 4 inches of lift?

Here's the BFGs I'm going to put on. Not the best pic, but you can see they have very good tread left

Great on the highway and for my wheeling no issues.

I absolutely love mine. They do very well on the trails, and very smooth and quiet on road.

Yes, because the tires are too big. This is a 4" spring lift with 2" body lift:

I'd probably look for 32's. But that's my opinion.

So you're saying it won't look good because the 33s are too big? I doubt that because I have 35s on now. I was thinking the 33s would look small. Judging from that pic you posted, 33s look small on that jeep with 6 inches of total lift. Mine has 4 inches. So sounds like 33s will look just right.

I think you'll look fine.

You'll only have one more 1" between the tire and fender than you have now

I have 31's on a 4" lift and no body lift.... looks fine

Again, it's just my opinion :thumb:

4 inch lift with 32x11.5x15. The bfg at are nice all terrain just don't do great in thick slimy mud.

JACK3D 02-15-2013 05:41 PM

Today I dropped from 35s to 33s. Got some BFG all terrains for free and put them on... Wow what a difference. Such a better ride, and holy crap, I can use 5th gear and go 75 MPH!! Before and after...

JACK3D 02-15-2013 05:47 PM

Before and afters... Looking at it now the 35s were way too much tire.

I also picked up some cool "F Bomb" stickers
