New to JEEP

So I just bought a 4 door 2008 wrangler unlimited. Was wondering what's the first thing I should upgrade?

I don't think anyone here can answer your question specifically. What did you buy it for, daily driver, off roading, both, something else?

What trim level did you buy?

You can start as simple as a daystar dash panel & a set of grab handles, or bumpers, or a lift and then bigger rubber. It all depends on what you want to do with it, what you need out of it, and where you want to spend your money.

I just got the K and N drop in filter and it makes the v6 sound mean. thats my only upgrade buts thats what im all about, More power!!

It all depends. I am doing the first few modifications to mine to set it aside from the everyday 100% stock jeep. And to make it a little more comfortable by adding things it doesnt have that I miss, like for example I miss my "Oh S***"! Handels. Especially on a vehicle where you take the doors off.

1) kc slim lights and windshield mount
2) mopar grab handles and rear coat hanger
3) tail light guards (mabey euro tail lights, I need to see them on a jeep first)

Its not alot but its a start. when the stock street tires get some wear I want some slightly larger all terrians.

Well was thinking at least doing a cold air intake but the dealership told me it would void my warranty, but said the cat-back wouldn't. Deff. want to put some side steps on it. Probably do the tail-light gaurds. Maybe a meaner looking front and rear bumper.

Also wanted to know what the best site for after-market parts was so I don't waste my time searching the net?

its only a cold air intake if you live in the north pole, other then that, its usually getting hot air. Go for a nice lift, bigger tires, whatever else you like. After all, its a Jeep and its your Jeep.

If your going off-road w/it, a winch and CB would be my first mods. The longer wheelbase will take some time to get use to if your coming from a TJ.:D

Your skills.
Drive it a while and start making a list of what you wish it had. Your wish list will change as your skills improve and you live with the vehicle a while.

I added a CB, Misch armrests, bigger tires, and hitch receivers at both ends right away to fit my lifestyle. Lights are next.
Pace yourself and do it right the first time.
:D
My rig is just over 5 months old, has nearly 17,000 miles, and has been wheeling in 17 states and 2 Canadian provinces. I'm just getting started...

Very nice set-up^:)
That's a lot of traveling!

Thanks guys. I deff. want more power. Don't really care bout the gas mileage, would of bought a car if I did. I would like to brake it in before I start off-roading. So I'll hold off on a lift and meatier tires. It's steel blue with black trim and soft top. And dark interior. Really wanna make it look more aggressive, so is there a good site that has a wide variety of exterior parts?

AEV has some of the best exterior bits.
And power? Not much to be had from this engine. Regearing will net you more ooomph, especially if you plan to put on larger diameter tires.
All of your bolt-ons will have a wide degree of price and quality range; due diligence is suggested. If you're going to be thrashing the rocks, you might be sorry that you bought a pretty bumper rather than a tough one...

jwunische 10-08-2008 05:36 PM

Oh deff. by more aggressive I meant that it could take a beating as well not looking to make it a show jeep

Hilldweller 10-09-2008 07:30 AM

There are lots and lots of bumpers; I've been playing a waiting game and hoping that the prices will come down.
I like LOD's bumpers --- but Warrior is in the final design stage for one and Fab Fours makes a beauty (but doesn't reuse the stock foglights...).

jwunische 10-10-2008 07:44 AM

Yea, I've been looking around seen a couple that looked pretty good and prices weren't horrible.
