TJ to be Painted - Can't Make Up My Mind

I am planning to have my TJ painted at the local Maaco as soon as it is warm enough to take off the hardtop. Although it is fun deciding on a color to go with, I can't make up my mind. So many of the JK colors are appealing and just when I think I have decided on one I change my mind. I know everyone's opinion will be different but I am trying to decide between the below colors - leaning more heavily towards dozer, rock lobster, or commando green. Maaco will be able to find a close match to whatever I choose. Keep in mind this is going to be on a TJ (pic of my jeep with the hardtop below). Let me know what you think.

My Jeep now (the flat fenders are bedlined and will remain black):

Colors I am deciding from (I threw this comparison together quickly - hopefully it is useful to others - there aren't any side by side comparisons like this I can find of the different colors pictured on actual Jeeps):

commando green

Dozer.

No reason you are limited to Jeep colors. You have the entire Maaco palete to choose from. Probably does not make it easier, maybe there is an orange somewhere inbetween, or a green that looks like fun.

Commando green FTW!

GoldenSahara00 02-16-2013 10:29 AM

Dune or commando

Bustedstuff 02-16-2013 10:34 AM

I kinda like the Orange Crush.

TJDave 02-16-2013 10:35 AM

What color do you like? I like Dune or Commando Green, but it's not my Jeep.

X2 why not go with an unconventional Jeep color or get a custom color created? And let us know how Maaco does.

Gecko Green!

Duke-TJ 02-16-2013 10:45 AM

Commando green.

I honestly can't think of unique colors - but I have been randomly searching online for ideas. It is an old TJ so I figure if I am getting it painted why not make it stand out a little (where I live there are tons of bright JKs jumping out at you but the TJs are all much more subdued).

I've been reading about them putting Kevlar paint on Wranglers. Kevlar aside, a lot of the pictures made me really like the matte grey color. And the price wouldn't be stupid expensive to get the color without the Kevlar. Mine is yellow.

Chrome. All of it.

Personally, I'd avoid any currently trendy or 'different' color... trendy colors become difficult to sell once that trendy color ceases to be popular and they all eventually do. I'd go for a classic Jeep color, one that help the Jeep keep its value and make it easy to sell when it's time to move on to something else. Not many people keep their Jeeps "forever" as some initially think they will so keep that in mind. Yes I know the classic Jeep colors might be boring to some but... :)

Damn right. I feel like Dune is the little brother to my Desert Sand Pearlcoat, and like that it looks sorta flat. The Commando Green is a nice color as well, makes me thing of OD green but more sophisticated. lol!

appleman46 02-16-2013 12:56 PM

Ive always liked Gecko.

Clemson 02-16-2013 12:56 PM

Where in Florida are you?

I also have a 2000 TJ, and a 2007 Durango limited hemi...

I've been thinking of also painting my TJ, however for me it will be an orange or aqua blue...
Florida sun or Islamorada waters for me!!!! (Life IS good))

ztman 02-16-2013 04:48 PM

Whatever color you choose, have them paint the inside too, other wise you will look like a rube when you have your top off

Mulvihill64 02-16-2013 04:51 PM

FYI the rock lobster looks more pinkish in person IMO

allen456 02-16-2013 04:57 PM

if you go orange, which would be my choice, go with a retro orange like they put on cj5 back in the early 70's IMHO

Barryt83 02-16-2013 05:08 PM

Commando green or orange crush

Binner 02-16-2013 05:33 PM

Dune or commando

We enjoy Islamorada. Usually stay one night at the Oceanview, when we are in the Keys.

hdb 02-17-2013 12:36 AM

BlackTJ98 02-17-2013 01:14 AM

TJSurf 02-17-2013 02:04 AM

I know you don't have it listed but I think artctic blue is my favorite Jeep color.
