I just got a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Tj x everything is factory. What would be a reasonable lift/suspenion for offroad and everyday city driving? also what would be a good size tire to fit with that lift with factory rims? I'm new to the Jeep world so if someone could help it would be appreciated.

You have lots of options really. But first you have to answer a few questions for yourself so we know what to suggest. How big of tires do you want? 31's, 32's, 33's? How much lift? How much money do you want to spend?

What exactly is it that the Jeep doesn't do that you need it to do? That's been my starting point for every vehicle I've owned in forever, seems to work out alright.

I was thinking like a 2 or 3 in lift, but I'm new to this that's why I'm not sure what would be good and as far as the tires go I guess I would want the biggest I could fit on there with the lift.

Well you could go with a 2.5" lift with a 1.25"bl and 1"mml and fit 33's very well. Or a 2.5" lift with 32's or 33's (I have 33's on mine, planning on the small bl soon). OME is a good brand in my opinion, that's what I put on my Jeep. If you want to go the 2.5" lift and 1.25" bl route, dpgoffroad.com has a really good, all-in-one kit. Or you can fit 31's on stock suspension. I can post pics of my jeep in a minute if you'd like to see some.

Yes, OME makes great, soft lift kits that are super nice for everyday driving. If its for everyday driving, I would stick with 31" or 32" tires for better gas milage unless you want pay to regear your axles for the larger tires.

Depends upon what factory rim you have. But generally you want a 15x8 rim for a tire thats 10.5-12.50" wide. And in my opinion you don't have to worry about regearing right away depending upon what engine, tranny, and gears you have. I have the 2.5L, manual, with 4.10 gears. Regearing is on the list but not a necessity right now. At least for me.

First, I agree with above, what do you wan't to do that you can't do stock? Now adjust until you can.
Second, I know this sounds dumb, but take a look at different google images of different set ups, and see how extreme or modest you want to go.

Tire sizes range from anything from 30-40+" and lifts from 0-10+". There are also many ways to do a lift.
Suspension lifts are more costly, but provide the most performance out of a lift
Getting creative with combo lifts (BB and BL) and/or fender mods can be cheaper.
The cost of lifts is not linear with lift height. The higher you go, the more modifications that need to be done to do it right (regearing, SYE, axle swaps, welding, etc)
