What will be the average cost of a paint job for my TJ?

I'm looking to paint my TJ all black, but I just haven't had time to go in and get a quote.

I'm hoping maybe someone could give me an estimated price for what a paint job will cost?

500-8000 dollars is about the norm.

That is pretty much spot on. Getting just the exterior painted at a Maaco or similar shop will run about $500 and up. You can spend much more as well.

Thanks guys!

I was quoted $1800 if I stripped it first.

And for your 500 bucks they will throw in the additional service of painting everything you didn't remove.

If you want a full color swap under the hood, new stickers, the inside of the tub and can get by with just a scuff and shoot no body work, that's still going to be north of 5 grand if they remove everything.

Aside from the full doors, mine is all rattle can semi-gloss black. Easy to do, easy to touch up, care-free and cheap. It doesn't look perfect but it's rust-free and that's all that matters to me.

I plan on doing this to mine as well, I like my Forest Green color though, so I'm going to use clear, that way it retains the color but comes out in a matter finish like the one above.

My exterior was repainted in 2007 for $2,600, before the engine transplant.

It was a nice "exterior" job but they didn't do the interior, under the hood, or engine bay. It was however the original color, so it's not much of a factor in not painting the non exterior areas.

I saw a color change on CL that was done in a silver. Original color was yellow and they did an exterior only. It was fairly hideous and even as cheap as it was, I'm not interested is a full disassemble and re-paint.

Yep, my first thought was to get a paint job, but when I got basically the same price for linex I jumped on that (with some peer pressure form my buddies lol)
