Drilling into tub
Well I plan to make a trunk/lid this week and was wondering if there are any problems or worries with drilling into the tub, especially on the gas filler side. I plan on using self tapping screws. What would be a good length? The lid is going to be to lock the back while the seat is up.

Look up into the area the gas filler hoses are in by unfastening the fiber/cardboard cover that covers both bottom rear corners of the tub. Push-in plastic retainers hold them shut. Once you open the flap, you can see how much room you'll have & how long your screws can be. Personally, I'd use nuts & bolts for that type of installation & not self-tapping screws.

I'd use ( I do use) 316 stainless steel button head screws and stainless nylon lock nuts for this type of application.
