budget lift kit

So Im finally biting the bullet with the nice weather on its way here in Canada and buying a lift kit for my 97. Dont want to go with anything too crazy as its my daily driver. So Ive been eyeing up Rough Countrys 2 inch budget lift with 4 of their 8000 shocks. Anyone used this kit? Ive also been looking at their 4 inch coil and shock lift kit. Any pointers would be great. Thanks guys!

Rough country doesn't get very good reviews on here because they ride pretty rough. But the most important questions you have to ask is what size tires do you want? and what do you want it to do that it doesn't do now?

I do some weekend mudding and trail riding, nothing really serious that I dont already do with it, just want a bit more clearance. And as far as tire size goes its getting 31x10.5 R15s

Best bet is a 2" budget boost then. Doesn't matter what brand if you go with a budget boost/ coil spacers. You keep the stock springs and shocks, and therefore keep the stock ride. Heard they can be tracked down for $50, but then you'll have to make your own bumpstop extensions if you go with 31's. I got my kit from Rugged Ridge for $100ish and it came with the spacers, bumpstop extensions and necessary hardware for the bumpstops.

Definitely go with just the 2" as mentioned before with 31's. But if you get the 2" spacers you really should get extended shocks to keep all the suspension lengths correct. Or you could get a full 2" suspension lift and get better articulation and ride out of it (stock springs are probably sagging by now). Just my two cents.

Yeah I found a 2 inch kit for $79.95 CAN and it includes everything so I think Im going to just go with that. Thanks for the input :) made my decision pretty easy

Just a spacer lift? And it comes with the new shocks?

My shocks are wore out anyways so yeah they are getting replaced with extended ones when I put the lift in. I knew I was lifting it so I was holding off on replacing them until I decided what size I was going

Gotcha. Good luck with the install! And happy Jeepin'!

If stock ones are shot yea replace them, if not they're perfectly fine. I know this from personal experience. Don't be a cheap bastard if ya replace them though, do it right since a rough ride sucks.
