Huh?? Are you talking about remote start?

Farnham21 02-20-2013 02:35 PM

Take it dealer they will take care of it. Also try changing the battery in the fob. Does any of your door unlock/lock buttons work? Where you from in NY?

Eastern LI 19 02-20-2013 02:39 PM

Yeah I'm from Long Island and all the lock and unlock buttons work

simadownow6988 02-20-2013 02:40 PM

If your fuel light is on or if your hood is not completely shut, the remote start will not work.
If those arent the case, take it to your dealer. Pushing the start button on the fob twice should make it start.

Should just hit the button twice and it should work UNLESS you happen to have a door or tailgate ajar. If not if let the dealer hash it out.

Farnham21 02-20-2013 02:44 PM

Um you don't have remote start lol

Eastern LI 19 02-20-2013 02:46 PM

No it worked 2-3 times by hitting something on it when I first got it

here's what a fob with remote start looks like.

simadownow6988 02-20-2013 02:53 PM

Well, that explains that....
If your Jeep is starting itself without remote start, you have some serious problems.

Farnham21 02-20-2013 02:55 PM

Automatic start obviously is different than remote start lol automatic start is when you put the key in the ignition and turn it lol

12CrushRubi 02-20-2013 02:59 PM

Damn I needed this laugh! Lol! We're just busting your balls.... But seriously has been a funny thread!

Is it possible that you have another key that has the Remote Start button? That key will not remote start your Jeep.

Lusus_Naturae 02-21-2013 08:53 AM

Funny thing is - I had to move a Toyota Tacoma at the dealership this week. I had a normal, basic key. I hit the lock button when I parked it, and after not hearing the beep, I hit the lock button again. I turn around and walk 10 feet and hear it try to start but fail. I start walking again and then hear it start up behind me! I thought I was having a Christine moment for sure. I went back over and all the doors are locked and won't open by remote, I had to use the key to unlock the door and then had to put the key in the ignition, put it in neutral and park again, and then it would turn off. I thought it was a glitch, but I tested it again and it did start again. Apparently someone wired it up to work that way.

Ah, are you refering to tip start? I.e when you put the key in and turn it to start and immediatly let go the Jeep does it's own cranking?

If that is not working I would take it to a dealer.

nwbronco 02-21-2013 09:36 AM

Sounds like an aftermarket setup. You may have to find out the manufacturer and try to find a vendor that will work on it.

Is your jeep new or used? If new, look at the build sheet and see if it has remote start. If it is used, maybe sombody added it aftermarket? But the key fob you have indicates that you do not have it or have the wrong key.

I have a aftermarket remote start, they hooked it up so all i have to do is hit the door lock (3) times and it starts. You may the same type of remote start.
