Best Choices?

I'm going to be Buying a New JKU soon, and want to know the best choices for Audio and Electronics.

Choice 1. OEM Nav/Stereo/Bluetooth compatability
Choice 2. OEM Minimum Sterio with BT compatability
Choice 3, OEM Basic Stereo, Gut and put in Aftermarket NAV/BT compatability
Choice 4. Oem Basic radio, Gut and put in Good Qualith Stereo/Video Screen/BT Compatability, and use an iPad for NAV

I'm leaning much to the 4th Choice, as I've heard that the OEM Audio and BT compatability is not exactly great...

I'm Leaning on Choice 4, and rigging a camera setup for the Built in screen, and a Mount for an iPad Mini for GPS/NAV Etc.

I'd say go with choice 5... same as choice 4 but you completely ditch the apple product and save yourself a few hundred by purchasing something like a Nexus 7. You get a better product and the maps don't look like something out of Pablo Picasso's nightmares. Not to mention, you don't give apple any more money. I hate apple. Apple needs to die.

Did I mention I don't like apple.

My vote would be choice 3. If you are using an iPad for nav, you will have to have a data connection or purchase expensive "offline" maps, and you will always have to have your massive iPad with you in order to use the nav. If you go with the basic system, wiring in aftermarket amps and replacing the headunit is a bit cheaper and easier. The factory BT/Uconnect system isn't fully compatible with aftermarket headunits, so that option is a waste of money if you're ultimately going aftermarket.

Thanks for the input, it follows what I've been thinking (mostly).

As an Apple guy I'm be using an iPad as aposed to another manufacturer. In the long , now forgotten past, I was an apple hater also. Then being forced to use them in College learned that I actually used it for work, where PCs I used for play. Since then I have been all apple. Also for the haters, Yes more expencive, but when you compare them to cheap, everything is more expencive... Pardon the Pun, but do an apple to apple comparision, rather than apple to Lemon (orange, or whatever other fruit), and the quality of the product and it's intergration to the "system" shows through. PS> I've tried a bunch of other products and the quality isn't there, they are just cheaper.

Well, Back to the topic, rather than Hijack my own post... LOL

I'm going to be purchasing an ipad mini and making a custom housing to replace the factory radio (will hide an aftermarket single DIN somewhere). if it goes well ill let you know!

I'm doing the same. Based on my current single din install, I think I can set the radio back in the dash about 3/4" so the iPad can sit right over the top of it. There appears to be enough room behind it. I have an extra mounting kit that I will be modifying. Just waiting for the weather to get warmer so I can do the fiberglass work in the garage.
