next gen wrangler?

Hello - The lease on my current vehicle will be up at the end of July 2014. Does Wrangler usually introduce next year's model before August?

Also, I've read that the next generation Wrangler should debut for the 2015 model year. Can anyone here confirm that with any level of certainty?

Dogzilla 02-22-2013 12:18 AM

If Chrysler sticks with it's habit, the new gen will show up in '17

@dog - thanks for the nextgen info.

Can someone please confirm if Jeep usually introduces next model year's Wrangler by the end of July?

June/July. Production usually ends sometime in May. That means they arrive in late August/September.

@dag - I'm interested in when the next MY wrangler becomes available to me as a consumer. Based on your post it sounds like June/July is when Jeep starts *manufacturing* the new wrangler? And the new wranglers are not generally available to the consumer until late August/September? Is this correct?

That has been the general trend. You can place factory orders in June/ July but it's 6 to 10 weeks until delivery.

ah - interesting. I was hoping 2015's would be available by end of July. This would give me 2 possible advantages:

1. Jeep would be offering some good discounts on the 2014 models since the 2015 models would be available
2. The 2015 models would be available and they would have really high residuals since they would be brand new.

I guess I could always rent a different vehicle during that 1 month window although that's a bit of a hassle....

There is very little additional discounting on the previous year model. It's a Jeep thing.

All I can say is, if the team that designed the 2014 Cherokee gets to do the the next Wrangler, I will probably never own another wrangler in my life, that is one ugly vehicle.

If the previous model year is not discounted then what's the incentive to buy one if the next model year is available? Why would someone buy the previous model year if they can have the next model year for about the same price?

Nols 02-23-2013 04:42 AM

Amen - SilverMiner....I just saw the pics of the Cherokee... horrible design.....

Wranglers don't gather dust on the showroom floor. You don't have to take my word for it, stick around and see for yourself.

Depending on where you are located and the difference between the 14s and 15s. The '07 Wranglers came with 4.10 gearing standard, the '08s did not. The '07s were the first 4 doors and they couldn't keep them on the lot. Then the '08s came and folks found out the 4.10 was no longer standard and the '07s continued tone hot sellers and no need to discount them. You can find bigger discounts on the 12s b/c the 13s have the individual TPMS, slightly different interior, and better seats. It will come down to what is better/worse between the 2014/2015.
But mention Tread Lightly if the dealer does not offer at least invoice price. I bought my 13 mainly because the dealer offered me $1000 below invoice over the phone before I even mentioned Tread Lightly. And I'm planning in trading it for the 10A Rubicon.

It was only an option on the sport trim, and obviously the Sahara. It was never standard. Not many ppl pounced on the 4.10 sports for some reason. Still, like today, the majority sold were 3.21 gearing
