2012 JKU Won't Start

2012 JKU Sport manual with 9,600 miles. I drove it home from work and stopped to pick up my son. Turned the Jeep off for 5 minutes and when I got back in and turned the key - nothing - except the wipers started to sweep the windshield even though they are switched off. After about 3 seconds of holding the key turned in the start position, the starter made a burst but the engine did not start. No clicking and the lights, radio, bluetooth and all other power accessories work fine. Waiting for roadside assistance now.

The Jeep was at the dealer yesterday for an engine light and the is scheduled to have a head replacement next week when the parts arrive. The dealer told me that it was fine to drive until then.

Any thoughts?

Tow truck driver said it was the security module not recognizing the chipped key. He says that he is seeing the same issue over and over with Jeeps and Chryslers. Between this, the cylinder head replacement, and a constant burning smell I am about ready to call it quits with the Jeep and get something more reliable.

Let us know what the dealership says. My '12 has been in the shop several times already, but I haven't had a no-start condition yet.

Dealer says its all attributable to the bad cylinder hear. The replaced to day and the Jeep is starting right up and not throwing any codes. My wife is picking it up in the morning.

So my wife picked up the Jeep and stopped on an errand on the way home from the dealer. She came out a few minutes latter and once again the wipers went on by themselves and the Jeep refused to start. Here it is being towed back to the dealer. The service manager is stumped.

did you ever get your issue resolved? I have a 2013 two months today and it has done this 4 times, three with me and once at the dealership, been to the dealership twice and they cannot figure it out. Frustrating!! I had it 2 days short of two months the first time, hadn't even made the first payment yet! Second time it went to the shop was this week. They are stumped....

Is the dealer providing you with a rental at least?

How the hell a bad head can cause the windshield wipers to operate is beyond me..Time to change dealers..the tow truck operator seems to know more than your service manager...

Sounds like a TPIM issue or clockspring more than a head issue.
