CB antenna question
I am about to dump some money in the Jeep (new bumper, etc) and one of the thing I was planning on adding was a CB.

I was planning on going with either the Cobra 75WXST or the Midland 75-822, both for their small size and I want to be able to stow them somewhere when they are not needed.

I was looking at antennas and have decided on getting a Firestik. Reading through various other threads it seems like the Firestik or Firestik II are popular, but what about the Firestik Firefly? It is advertised as being more flexible, would that be a good feature for trails?

I honestly will be only be using it for occasional trail runs and maybe screwing around with on long highway trips. I do not think I will need more than a few miles range.

Either or. If you get a Firestik get a spring. No spring needed on the Firefly of course.

check out the Uniden xl520 and xl510 both small and great performers.

I had a 3' firestick that was about 6" above my roof line with a spring. It hit everytime I went in and out of my garage. Plus, it constantly bounced off the rear of my jeep on trail runs.

I got in the habit of removing it when I was home so that it would not hit the garage and I would not have to listen to it bounce against my tip when I drove around.

Got old installing and un installing it.

I bought a shorter 2' firestick that is about 3" or so below my roof line with no spring.

I forget it is there and stick have plenty of range for trail communications.

X2 on the 2' firestik fs II. It tuned out great and dosen't hit going in the garage.

Hmm I had not considered the 2' before. I had plans of taking off the antenna when not in use, but if I can tuck it below the roof line, I may just be able to leave it on.
