Need DD tires to make the Death Wobble Stop
Got our '04 TJ a couple of years ago with 18,000 miles in it. Love it! However, she has evil Death Wobble now. I need new tires anyway.

I live in Central Ky. We get ice, snow, sleet, freezing rain, regular rain, and sunshine. Sometimes all in the same day. I don't off road. This is the vehicle I drive everyday. I live in a town and run around here and back/forth to Lexington.

Advice for good highway tires appreciated. Looking for good performance and mpg. When gas is this expensive, every little bit helps.

Many thanks!

Your tires aren't causing the DW. Find the problem and fix it.

Death wobble? Or annoying shimmy in the steering wheel due to worn out unbalanced tires? There's a huge difference between the two.

Id its dw check your trackbar and balljoints

DW advice noted. Researching other entries to see about DW issues. But I still need new tires. DD. any suggestions?

If it's DW you will know. It has Death in the name for a reason.

I ran a tire shop for a few years and I'm a huge fan of Cooper Tires. I was getting 35-40K on my Discoverer A/T. Very minimal road noise and good traction off road. I still have set on my Blazer that have been on there for about 10 years. Not aggressive but capable.

Can't go wrong with Coopers. I had a set on my work truck and got at least 65k all highway miles on them. (I run tires till there's cords hanging out). You'll know if its Death Wobble, your pants and the road will both have skid marks in/on them

If bad balancing is the culprit, try adding 6oz of airsoft bb's to each tire. It should fix the shimmy
