Any Experience with AMS Powder Coating, NYC ???

Hello,

Does anybody had any experience with them: AMS Powder Coating | If your stuff is metal, we make it Awesome
I have dropped my Poison Spyder front and read bumper as well as a skid plate with its owner Matthew Susser exactly two weeks ago today (on Feb-16, 2013) and for the last week (more than a week, since last Friday) I didn't hear anything back from them, despite leaving numerous voicemails and emailing them.

I think it’s a one guy shop and Matthew is the owner and pretty much everything else there. The phone number on the website is his cell and he always responded to my emails prior to when the communication stopped!

I will be going there today and see if I can talk to someone (hopefully Matt) this way. It just seems strange a little at this point that its taking that long and I cannot even get in touch right now with Matthew or anybody from AMS Powder Coating.

Anybody had any experience with AMS???

UPDATE:

Matthew just responded via email stating that he will most likely start the powdering process today and maybe even finish it by the end of today.

I will keep this thread updated!

Nice, Pete. When are they going on the Jeep?If you want bring them over on Sat. we'll be working on some stuff through the day.

Looks good! I have a Brawler Lite and skid at the powder coater that is supposed to be ready today too.

I got the front/rear bumper and front skid back powder coated. I still have them in my garage!
They look beautiful and just as I wanted. After all, I did panic a bit but Matthew did a great job!!

Will take some pictures later in the week and will definitely post them here.

Hey Lou,

I wouldn't be able this weekend. - “family situation”
I am gearing for our April trip though, I have a lot of things that needs to be installed (PS front/rear bumper/front skid, EVO 3 pieces ProTeK Skid System, spacers, hitch, etc)
One of these Saturdays if you be available maybe I can come over or you could stop by my place and we could have them installed. I have watched youtubes and have a good idea how to do it, just extra hands will be very helpful.

What were you working on this weekend??

MikeK46 03-20-2013 01:21 PM

Hey Pete, how goes with the bumpers? Got 'em mounted yet?

mallaki 03-24-2013 06:38 PM

Not yet Mike!
Maybe the weekend after Easter. I got to install them before the trip! The front one should be easier, the rear one scares me a little.

I dropped off my PSC Mid-width brawler to AMS yesterday.. He said it would take about a week. I am just curious to how much he charged you. I told him I was referred to him through the forum(not this one) and he said "yeah, we just did a PSC bumper recently", so i guess that was yours lol. Anyways, it looks good can't wait till i get mine..

It took him about two weeks for everything, but he was waiting for some new “better" primers or some other chemicals.
I was a little shaky at first as our email and phone communication slowed down a bit and I have not been updated as much as i wanted to, but at the end Matthew did a brilliant job!! And i would highly recommend him.
I did front Poison Spyder Brawler with skid plate and the rear bumper. Honestly, I don’t remember what it did cost me as the price changed a little, but to be on the safe side, for all the three pieces it was no more than $350.00.
I haven’t post here many pictures and the ones that I did are the ones Matthew emailed me, but again he really did a superb job at a very reasonable price.

I lefted him a email yesterday just to stay on top of things. Hopefully he will send me some pics too. He gave me a estimate and said about $125. It was cheap because when we took it out of the box it was already ready to be powder-coated and just needed to be wipe with alcohol, so no extra work(sandblasting, etc.)

Nice, it was very similar situation with me. I have paid for these three pieces $270.00. First it was quoted at $220.00 but we raised the price when i brought all the pieces over to Matt. It was fair as the rear bumper is big and the previously quoted price seemed a little low.
