decent VA dealerships...

Hi all,
Newbie here looking to buy my first jeep. Any recommendations on a good dealership to work with? My best offer on a JK sport is from Lustine but have heard some bad reviews about them (lustine). Also, it appears 2-3% is considered a good deal...what are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance for assisting a newbie jeepster in a first purchase.

decent VA dealerships...

I've gotten good deals at both Farrish in Fairfax and Koons in Tyson's Corner. Both generally have good selections.

Great experience at tysons jeep. Pmed you my deal and salesman

I've had great luck with Manassas Jeep. Bought my old 08 and new 2013 there, had a great experience on both. Their service and parts departments are excellent as well for after the sale. Also, they are a full line AEV dealer, meaning you can get a new rig built by AEV, or get AEV parts for upgrading like I did with mine.

Warrenton Jeep. Great deal, great service.

The jeep dealer off of 50 in Chantilly is f**king awful.

I have purchased 5 vehicles from Lustine since 2004 with no issues...If you don't like the deal you're getting walk/drive away; I did several times...The main reason I keep going back is because of the service tech I have...I have had zero issues with modded vehicles there & and 3 of my vehicles were heavily modded...Some of the mods were even done by them...If you want a good service tech just PM me...

Thanks guys for all the good feedback.

Manassas Chrysler Jeep and dodge dealership here . Good experience , no pressure, and good deals, family oned dealership and not part of a chain .

I bought my Jeep in January from Fair Oaks Jeep in Chantilly. I got a good price and they hustled to make the sale. In fact, they drove all the way to the Woodstock Jeep dealer to get the only Wrangler within 250 miles with the options I wanted on it.
I did everything over the phone.

LOL. You are probably referring to the place where I bought my Wrangler. I was treated well I felt. Isn't it interesting how customer experiences can vary dramatically?

QuietSpike 03-05-2013 10:02 PM

Was thinking same thing reading your post.

My sales guy was weak... To say the least. That didn't help, but the sales mgr was weak as well... This Kat won't be back! :)

kawa001 03-06-2013 04:38 AM

My salesman was 22 years old. He was green but good. He drove all the way to Woodstock for me to get the Jeep and they sold me the Rubi KM tires at close to cost. I did my Wrangler shopping through the PenFed car buying service and got my financing through them as well beforehand. I speced out the Jeep and Fair Oaks Jeep went and got it. I only showed up at the dealer when it was time to take delivery. Until they handed me the keys I had never even sat in Wrangler much less driven one.

mcdaichman 04-14-2013 07:58 PM

Ourisman in Alexandria is horrible

Gbobva 04-14-2013 08:50 PM

Farrish in Fairfax got me a pretty good deal. I was satisfied overall with the sales process and the sale guy actually knew about jeeps. The financing was weak, but I did my own (for the first time) so maybe that what caused it to be wonky. Instead of trying to sell me everything on the shelf, they practically didn't give me the time of day, to the point I had to go there and insist they take my money.

I took my jeep there for the first free oil change. I left without them doing the service. I did not get a good vibe from the place, it was tiny and very disorganized.

My experience with Fair Oaks was the opposite. The guy who tried to sell me the jeep knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about them, not even what was in the brochure. While walking out the sales manager asked me if everything was ok, I suggested he run training seminars with local jeepers to learn the product better. I inspected the service facility there and it seems top drawer. Although I get most of the the work I dont do myself at High Tech Automotive in Chantilly (true jeep pros there), I would probably take my jeep to Fair Oaks in the case of warranty work (plus I work across the street).

Good luck.

Dulles was awful, had a used car dealer feel. They wouldn't negotiate on a 2012 in Nov that had 2500 miles on it. Fair Oaks took good care of me. The salesman were ok, but one of the managers helped out when I decided to order and I couldn't of ask for better help in making a decision. Why did I get a Rubicon again? lol

Jack Burton 04-16-2013 08:39 AM

I shopped at Koons in Tyson's and Fair Oaks.

Fair Oaks was willing to bend over backwards to get me the Jeep I wanted but Koons did the better price...lucky for me they had almost exactly what I wanted in stock.

3% under invoice

Bsnow71 05-14-2013 10:20 AM

Had a terrible experience at Manassas Chrysler Dodge and Jeep the salesman always had different answers to the same question everytime I would contact him and when i would tell him the options and extras I want on it I received several different prices. their website also shows the wrong prices. I ended up going with Fairoaks Chrysler Dodge and jeep and got a great deal and the manager threw in a few extras.

RASDOM JKU 05-14-2013 12:33 PM

+1 on Koons Tysons. I went through the internet sales guy. called their first - no pressure.

OffRoadCam09 05-14-2013 01:29 PM

Berglund Chrysler jeep dodge on Franklin road in roanoke is great as well. Very mod friendly place an great service all around

CJChet 05-17-2013 10:15 AM

Starr Motors in Suffolk. Great, knowledgable people, an AEV dealer, and they even have their own on-site off-road course!

JeepForrestJeep 06-27-2013 11:29 PM

If you're in Leesburg then go to the used dealership across from CASHMAX on East Market ST. The owner rolls Jeeps through there often and they get good reviews (from what I've heard)
Other than that the only other place I know of is the Jeep/Ram/Etc. dealership on 28 going towards manassas

Anyone have any good experiences with a dealer up the I-95 corridor between Richmond and DC? I live in Richmond and so far the dealers I've talked to haven't been very helpful. First they know nothing about Jeeps and second they think they are doing me a favor by offering me 1% below invoice for Tread Lightly and a $500 Military rebate. A bunch of clowns... I can get that from any dealer in the country on my own and they are acting like they are giving me some great deal. Safford in Fredricksburg has seemed OK so far... any good experiences out there from anyone?

rutoehead 07-20-2013 08:37 PM

Lucky, I am in the same boat. Most dealerships I have talked with will go 1%..but I am not stopping there as I know 2-3% below is possible. From my experience so far-Stafford seems to be one of the better dealerships (locally). The other thing, If you bank with Navy Fed or USAA, think about getting your loan through them.

I don't know about navy federal, but I always go in with a USAA pre approval and the dealer always beats it with one if their banks. But a significant margin sometimes.

Lucky- In Richmond too and in same boat here with no luck so far. Working to buy my first Jeep and keep flipping between waiting to order a 2014 Rubicon X or go for the 10A. Got my financing all taken care of already and ready to spend the money. Spoke with a couple dealers in Richmond and I feel I know more than they do and I am new to all of this.

keepitsimple 08-01-2013 01:58 AM

So far koons of Tysons has been the most helpful by far.

rutoehead 02-06-2014 07:38 PM

Well I figured I should report back on this thread I started a while back. I ended up going with stafford in fredrickburg. I factory ordered as I couldn't find one I wanted on the lot or state for that matter. Experience was okay...got an okay deal in large part to getting lucky in receiving a factory $500 rebate.
My Jeep came w/o the trail kit I ordered...dealer 'forgot' that it was ordered until I brought it up to them twice. Otherwise no major complaints. Looking forward to spring when I can drop the top!

dalearyous 02-10-2014 12:23 PM

safford in fredericksburg was an awesome experience for me. my dealer was very relaxed and easy to deal with. i had tread lightly discount and $1000 rebate because my wife owned a VW (limited promo). they accepted all of that no problem. i ordered the vehicle and it came in quicker than schedule. before driving there though, i talked to the salesman. i was basically like "look i know exactly what i want and what it is going to cost. i will find someone in this area to sell me exactly what i want at the right cost, is that you?" (my local dealer gave me crap about tread lightly and VW thing saying their discount was better blah blah) everything else was a piece of cake.

my only complaint was the sleezy finance guy who tried to slip in the spray coating/protection shit. i had to sit my wife down and walk into his office and close the door and ask why was his number different than mine. only then did he show me. after he removed it my number was around a dollar off the actual number. i did some SERIOUS homework first.

rutoehead 02-10-2014 09:10 PM

Yes, finance guy pushed undercoat big time...even at half price I didn't bite. I did get 2 yrs of oil changes with my deal. I did tons of research...my salesman showed me the build sheet/ invoice from the get-go. Invoice was just a starting point. All said and done...I ended up around 2.5% below invoice. Pearson said that they would match stafford but never called me back..there loss.
