Bumpers/winch or Off Road Tires

I have 1500 saved up after selling half of my life away(a little dramatic). But the point is its going to be a bit before I see this amount all at once again. I want to get some thing for my jeep.

What should I get-

New set of Off Road Tires - Probably
Goodyear 7507103260 - Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Tire with Kevlar - Quadratec

Or a New Front and Rear bumper with a winch
Bestop 42918-01 - HighRock 4x4™ High Access Front Bumper for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
Bestop 42934-01 - HighRock 4x4™ Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited - Quadratec
Quadratec Exclusive 92122 2010 - Quadratec Q9000 Self Recovery Winch in Black - Quadratec

Its a 2012 Jeep wrangler sport with 32 inch goodyear wranglers and everything stock

I like the parts and tires you chose.

Are you wanting cosmetic upgrades or functional upgrades? Do you wheel by yourself or with buddies? Do you really *need* a winch? What do you do with your Jeep? What other upgrades would you want to do down the line?

I'm a big fan of buying used tires, if possible. I'm always amazed at what is available in my area. Are you ever going to install a lift? If so, you might want to do the lift first, as you'll want larger tires later.

I want functional and Cosmetic upgrades. That is why I chose the parts I did. I think they are functional and awesome looking.

I convinced my buddy to buy a jeep wrangler also so I usually have a partner. My concern is what happens when we both get stuck. (Probably one of us trying to get the other out).

I think I do plan a lift eventually but probably not till this baby is payed off(3 years). As this is my daily driver I don't know what the life of my tires will be. So if I were to wear out a set before I pay it off my second set could just be bigger.

I wouldn't mind at all getting used but I have no idea where to start looking for them.

I am going to suggest you shop around and get a good deal no mater what you do.

Where do you get your parts. Quadratec has a great selection but terrible shipping costs. Luckily as members of this forum we get free shipping.

how much off roading are you planning on doing? daily driving will wear your tires out, but I definitely feel that tires are more important. good tires will get you in and out of a lot more than a set of bumpers and a winch. just don't hit anything while wheeling and you'll be fine ;)

another option is that if you have a few hundred left over, pick up a less expensive winch and winch plate, and just hole off in the tires. I got a badlands 9,000lb. winch from harbor freight and their winch plate for 335 shipped.

I suggest that you do not mail order tires. I would deal with a local tire dealer so I could get post sales service.

Do you honestly need tires? The ones Jeep put on are not as good as MT/R's but why replace good tires with tread left with better tires of the same size? Don't get me wrong, I love MT/R's and that's what I chose on my TJ, but I also bought a lift and went from 31's to 33's, and drove the stockers for 25K miles.

Before the tires, I bought a Warn winch and a winch plate for my stock bumper. I did eventually get bumpers years afterwards.

I would do a good quality winch - Warn or Ramsey - and a winch plate and a winch accessory kit.

winches are life savers. it was the first thing i bought for my jeep

As an additional note on this. I already dented up my stock bumper in my minor off roading :). Hence I would rather get the bumpers and winch at the same time.

Tires can greatly improve off road performance. In the groups that I wheel with, someone always has a winch. I have a winch, but I have winched others more often than myself.

That is a tough choice. I was very impressed with what I could do with stock Duellers for general off roading (aired down) however they are worthless in mud, I am also torn between buying a winch, or buying new tires and rims. $1500 could buy you a good set of AT's or MT's w/ rims if you shop around. Or see if you can find a set of Rubi takeoffs for the short term and buy a winch/bumper combo. You just need to figure out what will suit your specific needs.

I would suggest going with winch, tires, then bumpers. You can get a good warn 8000 new for under 400 when on sale, pick up a used winch plate on this site or jeep forms for sale section. Tires would be next, as said about look for a used set of rubicon rims/tires. Craigslist, this site or again jeep forum are good places to look. Bumpers are nice and usually add some good recovery points depending on what you get but in my opinion they are pretty much useless. With that bein said I do have aftermarket bumpers but I got them for a steal and I have more disposable income. It's all about what works once you hit that trail head an a good set of tires can turn a stock jeep into something much more. Good luck and post pics once you get everything.

I just built my front and rear bumpers and put on a badlands 12000 lbs and winch plate for about $650 that would leave you some left over for used tires. I got the winch for $299 with a coupon out of a 4wd mag, store flyer had it listed on sale for $399.
