1997 YJ high igling
 
I have a 1997 YJ, its idles around 2000 2500 and even when driving and shifting gears it stays around 2000 2200... IDK what to look at or anything. I am told to check intake manifold, TPS and IAC... What should my first step be.. Also check engine light comes on and off. Any info will be helpful

A 97 would be a TJ not a YJ.

If the check engine light is coming on I would start there. What code is it throwing?

Yea dude 97s tj. Check ur gaskets

Oh u didn't check anything yet. Well check to make sure all ur vacuum lines are connected and not clogged. Then use some carb cleaner to check ur gaskets. Then I'd pop off the TB amd check the IAC. Clean the tb and iac while there off

25 A shorted or open condition detected in one or more of the idle air control motor circuits.

Actual idle speed does not equal target idle speed.

That's the code that comes up... 12 25 55 or p1294...

I cleaned the iac and throttle body body and it's still idling high... I sprayed carb cleaner on intake manifold and the idling came down and sounded like it was going to stall.. At this point I'm don't know what else to do... Any ideas

Well, this may be a good place to start. On old components like these it is more likely to be a loose/corroded connector causing an open condition on the IAC motor circuits. Start with the easy things first which would be the electrical connectors as that is more likely than pinched or open wires. Wire connectors exposed to weather get corroded and eventually have trouble passing current.

Maybe some of the wires hit exhaust manifold and then get burned. Happened to me on 02 sensor, wires were without any insolation hitting each other. Isolated them with tape and that's it. :D Also check fuses etc. check it with an ohm meter

Other then that, could be that your iac motor is dead...
