They make them to go just about any where. Hood, front and rear bumpers, roof rack, roll bar, few others. Check quadratec.com and see what they got. Iv seen on there site a bunch of different types

I keep mine in the cab, right at the top of the rear seat. Strapped to the roll bar, and out of the rain. I cut a few inches off the total length, but it has never affected the use of it, and no rust on the jack or rust dripping onto my rig. :thumb:
I see a lot of people mount them on the hood around here too.

There's a bunch of threads. Do an image search on google for "jeep wrangler hi lift mount" and you'll see a ton of good pictures.

I'd break down the options like this:

1) On the cowl
2) On the bumper (or on the spare tire mount) - both horizontally or vertically
3) On the roll bar
4) On the front bumper - horizontally (don't hit anything!)
5) Other - inside the hood, on the bull bar, under the rear seat of JKs, etc.

There's a good argument that mounting it outside can get it dirty and rusty, which depends to some extent on your climate and location. You can buy a little neoprene boot to protect the mechanism.

You need to figure out the best option for your situation. Look at the available mounts at Quadratec, as someone recommended. Amazon has a good selection of HiLift stuff too.

If you have room inside, then I'd recommend that option for security and protection from the elements.

Search the forum for "hi lift jack" - there's a ton of threads.

I don't like the idea of putting it on the bumper... what if I hit something?
I made my own mounts in the cab, right behind my tool box. Uses wing nuts to hold in place and is mounted on rubber washers to keep it from rattling/rubbing.

I used the roll bar mount from quadratec and I love it. Keeps it secure in cab so no mud or water get in it to corrode things up!

I think I'm probably gonna end up going with a hood mount.

Thanks for all the info.
