help asap please

I'm trying to buy my first wrangler tomorrow, its a 95 with the 4 cylinder motor.. has no serious frame issues and very little body rust which is very uncommon for indiana/ohio. has a small crack in the windshield.. good tires all around, soft top but does leak but just a drip, has exhaust leak, and runs pretty good. he's asking 3200.. i offered 2800 and he said he'd take it.. is that a good deal?? also my next question is i plan on pulling a small trailer with maybe up to 500 pounds on it for maybe a 3 hr drive one way or so... is that going to be to much for the 4 cylinder motor or should it do just fine? I've been looking forever for a decent jeep in my price range, I finally found one I just need to know about the motor power.. Thanks guys and fast reply's will be awesome considering I would like to buy it tomorrow

Your not going to be able to much with a 4 cylinder. It's a Honda civic with four wheel drive

trxrider5 03-06-2013 07:29 PM

is it a good deal for that price?? would it handle a 3hr trip one way with pulling half that weight?

Cole Noah 03-06-2013 07:30 PM

The deal doesn't sound bad at all. But I wouldn't try to pull much with it. But that's me personally. It will but a lot of stain on the engine and the trans

Cole Noah 03-06-2013 07:39 PM

That last part was meant to be a thumbs up, but im one my iPhone. Lol

trxrider5 03-06-2013 07:39 PM

im trying.. just would like to grab this one up before it sells... i also heard pulling a trailer ill only get like 10mpg.. is that true?

Hardcharger 03-06-2013 07:40 PM

94. No frame damage. 4 cy. It's a good price. Is it stock? If so you won't have any problems pulling a small trl with 500 pounds on it. BUT if you put bigger tires/ lift you're def gonna have issues

trxrider5 03-06-2013 07:43 PM

by stock do you mean lifted or anything?? no all stock height and what not.. if it will pull the trailer is it gonna actually get 10mpg?

Hardcharger 03-06-2013 08:03 PM

10 to 12 sounds reasonable. Will prob only get around 14 without a trl at all. It's a box on wheels. Lol

trxrider5 03-06-2013 08:06 PM

damn lol thats worse than i had thought... should i pass it up guys and just get another truck or what?

trxrider5 03-06-2013 08:09 PM

i mean all in all do they make a good daily driver?

Sdizzzle 03-06-2013 08:22 PM

I have 95 with 4cyl, it's a little slow on hilly highways, I can always keep up with the speed limit though. It does pretty good around town, and it's very capable off road.

If you really want a wrangler all that won't matter, you will love it. My top leaks, I have no carpet, crappy mpg, it's loud, and in the winter It gets cold. It's my daily driver and my weekend warrior. I wouldn't have it any other way.

trxrider5 03-06-2013 08:24 PM

well right on:) you just did a pretty good job at convincing me lol

rcsteph1 03-06-2013 09:08 PM

Is it just a toy? or daily driver

trxrider5 03-06-2013 10:29 PM

It will be a daily driver. Also how easy is it to pop off the soft top and put it back on

trxrider5 03-07-2013 08:52 PM

well guys, I just bought it about 2 hours ago... as of right now its the best vehicle i have ever owned. I haven't tried to pull a trailer or anything yet like I was talking about, but yes as of right now i love it

trxrider5 03-07-2013 09:23 PM

im not a fan of the color, i could be wrong but i believe i got a good deal for 2800

Throwmorepartsatit 03-07-2013 09:47 PM

I have a 99 with 2.5 l engine, and i pull a trailer all the time. Just a bit gutless on the highway, but offroad in 4 low, or high, and it does awesome. But 12 to 14 mpg is about right. A cheap soft top is like 200-300 $. Loove my tj. Gutless and all.

trxrider5 03-07-2013 09:49 PM

thing is this soft top is brand new.. it just leaks a little on the drivers side right where its sewen at the factory..

Diver9543 03-07-2013 10:33 PM

Try rubbing some bee's wax on the seams and it should help with the small leak. You can also use it as a lube for the zippers. Congrats on the new Jeep and welcome to the forum.

trxrider5 03-07-2013 10:38 PM

thanks! ill give it a shot

horsedad58 03-08-2013 03:48 PM

On the seam leak, go to wallyworld and head to the camping stuff. They have Coleman seam sealer for tents... works great on Jeep soft tops too.

trxrider5 03-08-2013 10:24 PM

ill pick some up, thanks!

dotey1 03-10-2013 10:40 PM

congrats on a great find for 2800. welcome to the jeeping world with lots of questions and a million answers. I have seen 4cyl go where the v8's had a hard time, just depends on the lead in the foot
