Jeep Fest

Is anyone going to jeep feat this year in jasper, ga? I plan on going this year which will be my first time. I know it is ways away but I was wanting to see if anyone planned on going this year and if anyone has been in the past years? Enjoy it? Why or why not? What do they have? Events? Sponsors? What are the trails like? Etc?

Jasper...Are you kidding me? That's 15 minutes from me. It's only really an hour to hour and a half from downtown Atlanta. Ok, maybe two hours and a tank of gas in the Jeep lol. I haven't been before but I'm happy to help with accommodations or directions. When is it?

Pitboss33 03-12-2013 09:27 AM

It is September 6th-8th. They have a website that shows you all what went on last year.http://www.sheriffsjeepfest.com/

Went last year. It was a last minute trip so didn't get in on any trails. Watching the other folks do the obstacle course was pretty amusing though. :) Heard they're doing the trails in a different spot this year. Either way, I'm pretty sure we'll be headed up there. Just walking through the parking lot is a like a kid in a candy shop.

Sounds like a fun event. Though with too many Jeeps, it becomes a park and wait sort of trail ride.

Mikega8 03-12-2013 04:18 PM

I was there last year and will be back for this one. My experience on the trails and else where was great. The only problems that I heard were on the night ride. They had WAY more Jeeps than expected and and turned into a cluster****. We stayed the entire weekend and had a great time. Plus, It is all for a good cause, the Sheriff's boys home.

Funny I was working at the sheriffs association this week and saw the info for this. I figured I would go, it s probably only a half hour for me.

Is it a Public or private trail? Just curious if we are able to check it out to get the lay of the land.

Pitboss33 03-13-2013 07:33 AM

I'm not sure on that, I have read that before the event that they get jeep clubs and locals to volunteer to go out and clean the trails up and get them ready. @MosesTJ we are planning on going up for the weekend of the event. We should all try to get together that Saturday morning and ride up.

It's more than 1/2 hour to get up to Jasper, no?

Yeah man, we could do that.

I went to this last year. Had a blast. Huge turnout.

It was amazing just to walk up and down the rows of 100's of jeeps all lined up in the fields. Every configuration of jeeps, lifts, bumpers, etc that you could imagine.

Sign ups for the trail rides filled up very very quickly and early on the Saturday morning.

The trail rides were on private land. Little bit of a cluster waiting to get started on a trail with 100 other jeeps gathered in the same waiting area and trying to find out what was going on.

Private trails, crossed each other and branched off of one another, no signage as to which way to go. You were supposed to follow the leader, however if a jeep in front of you didn't keep up and the ones in front kept on going you would end up lost out there. The silver lining to that was that you ended up exploring more trails trying to find the way back.

I had little to no experience doing any off roading so I can't really speak for the difficulty of the trails. They had 3 level of difficulties, I only did the first 2. Some of that was me thinking "It is possible to drive there? Well the jeep in front of me just did it so I am going for it" .

The obstacle course back at the event area was neat to see and watch others drive through.

I am definitely going again this year.

big-daddy-dumas 03-13-2013 06:37 PM

went last year had a great time the obstacle course gave my front bumper a little character, lots of fun

lee indy 03-13-2013 08:58 PM

I went last year. Its a lot of fun but don't go expecting an off road event. It is a lot of people and not enough trails to accomidate all of them

Jeepers Creeper 03-16-2013 12:47 AM

This sounds like it might be a fun way to get more familiar with my by-then first Jeep.

SuperTJ 04-26-2013 10:45 AM

I was at Jeep Hut getting my Jeep back. I saw a flyer for it. I am thinking of going.

cleveland99 04-26-2013 11:19 AM

I think we are going

lee indy 04-26-2013 12:53 PM

I went last year. Great time. Already have my campsite reserved. You guys are welcome to join my crew that weekend.

I believe the trails are specifically built for this event in conjunction with Private land owners from around the area. I went last year and hit up all the level 1 and 2 trails with my stocker and had no issue but it did seem as if the trails were all on private property.

I went up and camped all weekend with the dog and had an absolute blast. My ride was completely stock at the time and did all the level 1 and 2 trails with very little issue while still giving the jeep a challenge (I rode them all multiple times throughout the weekend and they never got old). The array of Jeeps is something magical. People were more than friendly and willing to talk, lend a hand whatever you needed. Security was fantastic, they had police watching over the campgrounds 24/7 in case you wanted to leave something valuable behind (doors, top etc.).

Plenty of events, from the obstacle course to the big bonfire Saturday night. Sponsors galore to talk to. Trails are absolutely worth attending for and I am very much looking forward to tackling the level 3 courses this year. The only bad event was the night ride, it was literally driving down a gravel road with 300 other jeeps going 2 mph, not to mention the hour and a half drive to get to this gravel road. That was not fun. At all.

Very family orientated, I'd highly recommend attending. I know I'll be going back this year, hopefully with the dog again, for those that know Chuy.
