Tahuya State Forest Run (WA)

This is an all day run to Tahuya State Forest. Tahuya State Forest is a 23,000-acre working forest located on the southeastern portion of the Hood Canal west of Belfair Washington in Mason County. This popular year-round destination area attracts more than 200,000 recreational users each year. Tahuya offers recreation opportunities for a variety of activities. We will be running the 6.7 mile 4x4 loop trail, it is rated easy. We will be meeting local wrangler forum members, who know the area and trail. They will be with us to show us the different parts of the trail and spurs of the trail.
Discover Pass is “REQUIRED” and enforced at the State forest.
We will meet at the Safeway located in Belfair Washington.

Portland Oregon (I-5 Bridge) to Belfair Washington, 147 miles about 2.5 hours driving time.
I-5 North to Exit 104 the Highway 101 exit (104 miles)
101 west to Shelton, WA (17.1 miles)
Shelton, WA to Belfair, WA north on Highway 3 (26.3 miles)
Arrive at the Belfair Safeway
We will have a caravan for those that are driving up and back on the same day. There are some going up the night before and staying at a motel or camping. There may be some staying up there on Saturday night after the run.
For those that are caravanning up, we will meet before 7am at the Gee Creek Rest Area (I-5 NB Washington exit MP11 just north of the I-5 / I-205 junction) and leave at 7am sharp as we need to be in Belfair, WA by 9:30 am. Make sure you have a full tank of before arriving. We will make a stop at the Scatter Creek Rest Area MP 90 north of Centralia, WA.
This is a long day so have yourself and your vehicle prepared for the day. It is over a 300 mile round trip depending on where you are coming from. The same day drivers will be at least 12 hours out and about, 3hrs drive up 6 hours 4x4ing and 3hrs drive home depending on stops. Belfair Safeway has gasoline, Starbucks, rest rooms, and food for the day. Make sure you bring water, food, snacks, money, and dress for the changing weather.
Yellow Jacket hill!!!
Large turn out with 21 Jeeps. Due to the size of our group, I did not get to attempt Yellow Jacket hill :(.
I did have a great time though :).
I even managed to get stuck on a relatively EASY rock garden :banghead:.
Great group and great run - what more could you want...:thumb:
