M&G run #4will Pre Run!

Okay people...sense I only have 6 people signed up for trail run #4 I'm going to add more to the trail....I won't be making any easier just longer!!
So if anybody want to checkout the Meat & Potatoes of this run with me early I will be pre running it this Friday March 15th....Stoddard Wells!

Let me know and we'll setup a meeting spot...

Thanx!

I'm just hoping I get my t-case fixed by this coming weekend so I make make this trail at the M&G. I jacked it up a tad so it's partially torn down awaiting a new cross-pin for the mainshaft I sheared off. If I can get the stub of the old cross-pin drilled out without too much damage I think I'll be good to go. I had some pretty intense vibrations Sunday so I've spent one day and two nights in the garage inside or around the t-case (a 241).

WOKNROX 03-13-2013 08:13 AM

Hopefully u'll get that bad boy fixed in time...

I was just thinking of adding more trail to the run sense we'll have a small group ...
I'm thinking of adding another mountains worth of trail...

I want to sign up but I'm waiting on a clutch, I trashed it last weekend on lories run. whats the difficulty of this run compared to odessa and doran? If it shows ill most likely try and make it.

Sorry to u broke the jeep in Calico ..
This run is a jump up from what Calico has to offer...this run well have the minimum requirements of 2 lockers on 33s.. one (preferably the rear) locker on 35s and up...I would like to see 2 lockers on everybody but?....this run will be on rocks ALL DAY! so u need to really like to wheel ROX!
This run will have BIG rocky hill climbs and decents .....the kind that'll put u on 2 wheels..

U also need to expect rock rash....

So if u feel that this is for u then lets go wheelin!

Jerry Bransford 03-13-2013 09:38 PM

Pumpkin Eater at Stoddard Wells is generally more difficult than Doran with the exception of The Gatekeeper at the beginning of Doran. Odessa is only what I'd call a moderate-difficulty trail and it's only moderately difficult in a few spots.

Edit: WOKNROX described it much better than I did. You definitely need to pay attention to the recommendations he makes.

The replacement pin came in today & I finally found a 5" 1/8" drill to drill the busted one out. But I'm taking the night off, I need a night off to recuperate from being under my Jeep too much since Saturday. I hope to put it back together tomorrow night, at the latest Saturday.

I'm going out to Stoddard Wells tomorrow to see how I can smoothly add another couple miles of gnarley trial to run I've already put together ....

Looks like we may have picked up 2 more for the big day...:thumb:

If anyone wants to come join me tomorrow let me know ...u'll definitely get in a good day on the ROX!

I wish I could find some better videos on youtube of achy breaky/pumpkin eater to see what is out here. I guess I will have to just take my chances and do some of my own documenting while we are out there :whistling:

Jerry Bransford 03-14-2013 05:34 PM

There are three neat climbs on Pumpkin Eater... not real scary but most need a winch to make it up them. We'll all want to make sure we're aired down a little lower for this run than what is usual for more moderate trails.

Maybe I should follow you :D

wouldnt be the first time Ive had you give me a tug :surrender:

WOKNROX 03-14-2013 05:46 PM

Yeah...I usually air down to 11 or 12 pounds for most trails...but if I forget to air down to around 8lbs when in Stoddard Wells I'm screwed ...

Well be running the complete mountain that Pumpkin Eater & Achy Breaky are on plus another Mtns worth of the good stuff...

Cons...
Will be able to make his own video ....lol

That is the plan :)

I just do some shooting with the gopro...in the rig, on the rig, and when everyone stops at certain obstacles. They arent overly extravagant, but they help get the jist of the trails while still being somewhat appealing. I am kind of anal so I try to limit the shaky videos and static-y/windy videos (music works great here) haha

Haha I might try that. I actually put together a time lapse like that of my wife and I on a trip home from Big Bear. It was funny to see us moving around in fast foward.

I'm ready for the M&G ....I spent 6hrs out in Stoddard Wells Friday putting together the run...I added a really nice warm up loop that is around 3 miles of trail and 85% of it is constant rocks....it'll give a good feel for the rest of the day...
From there I ran 3 huge rock canyons one of witch is Pumpkin Eater & the other 2 were the canyons on either side of Pumpkin Eater ....these 2 canyons r just about equal to PE.
none of the trail I ran on friday was ran a few weeks back with some of the guys on this forum ...

I/we went back out this morning for another 5hrs and ran the complete run start to finish ..
I feel that if u like to run the rocks like I do this will be a very difficult but satisfying day of wheelin ...!

The next 6 days r gonna move in slow motion!

I'm gonna meet my group in the morning ...take them out for a good full day on the ROX and get them back to Calico. I have to get back home to finish loading up so we can make that 9hr trek to Utah for a glorious week of wheelin!
