I just bought my first jeep... a 97 tj. When I got it the left blinker was blinking fast...so I figured bulb out. Long story short...after my cell phone charger blew I found that the wires were crossed in the light. Fixed it but found wires clipped into a dummy switch cover to the left of it. There are three slots for switches but no actual switch. Is the wire something added af ter production and could be anything? Or do they go to something? There are no extra flood lights or anything attatched... not yeat anyways...im working up to it. Thanks for any info!

I'm not positive but I believe that the wires are installed the same on all models regardless of options, so I'm guessing it's for something like a rear window defroster. Probably goes to an empty relay slot that would have controlled the defroster (or whatever that switch was for).
Speaking of lights, you might be factory wired for fog lights. Look under the wheel wells for wire looms that lead to an empty connector. My TJ has them even though no factory fogs or even a fog switch. Good luck!

Ifred thanks so much for your feed back. Ill definately look for the wiring this afternoon. May even have had them at one point as stock bumpees were replaced by warn bumpers before I bought. Thanks again!
