When I left off the gas in first gear it sounds like gear chatter coming from the trans. When I try and repeat the noise in second it does not make any noise. So then I tried reverse and no noise. Then I thought I would get smart and push the clutch in when I let off in first. Not much change in the noise. At first I thought it was a tooth that had broke off on the diaphragm of the pressure plate. But it only makes the noise in first and only when I let off so Im stumped..
I got under the jeep to check out everything else that is under there and everything else seems fine.

Any guesses I'm still trying to figure this one out

Could be any number of things. My guess is going to be the t-case shifter linkage. Does the sound come from the floor or does t sound like its comming from the dash?

How do I check or fix that? It sounds like its coming from the floor. I know when I use 4h the handle is about a 1/4 inch from the stopper you have to go around to get into 4l. I'm guessing generally without my body lift 4h would be right against that stopper. However, I've had the jeep for 6 months or so and not had this problem with making no changes to anything under the chassis.

How can I adjust this and know its right.?

Sorry it took so long for a reply but your best bet would be a Novak cable shifter if the t case linkage is to blame. To check you can get under the jeep and see if there is any play in the linkage. You should be able to find pictures of where to find it with a quick google search.
