Oxygen Sensor Brand

If you have actually put them in your Jeep and if you prefer them etc:

NGK/NTK

Bosch

Denso

Delphi

Thanks!

I put Standard (as in Standard Motor Products) o2's in mine. No problems so far, only been a thousand miles or so.

Go with NGK/NTK. Many of us have found that the Jeep PCM does not like Bosch O2s

I am going to replace my upstream o2 sensor on my next round of maintenance work. I've not had the jeep long enough to know about parts it likes or dislikes and I hope to avoid the latter by learning from forum jeep owners' experiences.

Related question (not intended to sidetrack or derail the thread): Which company makes the OEM closed-loop injection system for the '99 wrangler? I ask because it would stand to reason that the FI manufacturer's o2 sensor would pair perfectly with their system.

Quick question about the o2 sensor,is this something to change as a maintenance procedure or wait for a check engine light or some other issue to happen.

Mine's an 02 4.0 with 93k

Thanks
Ken

I just ordered the NTK brand through rockauto.com.

I did not have a check engine light, but figured that after 125,000 miles it was time to change the sensors out. Most people wait for a check engine light, but I have heard that some people get better mileage after changing them out. I do not think it is a maintenance thing, but I may be wrong about that.

So for the better mileage factor that would be the two upstream ones?

Thanks

Yes the upstream tell the computer to lean or fatten the fuel trim. If the o2 sensors or responding slowly or not at all you will get worse mileage

+1 on this, I get stuff for all my cars there, and friends cars too for that matter. GREAT website, they have pretty much every part for every car. And you get a cool magnet. :-D

PS. No, I don't work there, just a BIG fan! LOL

I ordered the Bosch from rockauto after the check engin light came on. Code said front sensor. A month or so after I installed it check engin light came on again. It was then I found out about the Jeeps not being happy with the Bosch sensor. I will get NTK next time.

doclouie 03-21-2013 02:28 PM

Ordered the two NTK sensors I needed from Rockauto.com 2 days ago and both sensors came in the mail today. That is way fast. now lets see if I can get them off the Jeep. I had hernia surgery 2 days ago so I am a bit nervous.
