MetalCloak 3.5 lift, 37" tires, and stock fenders on.

So, I finally got this done over the weekend with the help of the Warner Robins Jeep Club. The lift took a day, and the tweaking took another day and a half as I drove around feeling it out. Overall, very pleased with the outcome - the look anyway. Now I need to figure out if I want to sacrifice looks for flex.

Pics from day one.

37s mounted. They're as heavy as boulders so it was a bit hard to put on the Jeep.

Thanks. We haven't touched the drive shaft yet. I'm still trying to get used to the feel of it on the road.

We did add some exhaust extensions for now. Trying to decide between Tom Woods and Krawl Off-road's new DS options.

No no no, need to figure out most aesthetic way to gain flex. Must have flex.

Jeep looks awesome. If we don't ride soon, need to meet up for lunch. Need to check this out in person. Cool that you got the help to do this yourself.

I was gonna ask that too but he looks kinda mean, and like he is taking out some frustration or something.

It's always a party when there's one Involved. There one thing I didn't see was any beer laying around so it probably stayed tame.

kappaknight 03-18-2013 04:09 PM

Heh. We kept those in the garage and out of the Sun. No beer = no fuel for these guys.

Yeah, the kit came with some... In the rear are 4" bump stops and the front were choices of 1 through 4" with hockey pucks. 4 was too many, 1 apparently is just shy of enough. I'm trying to find the will to put in another one but it's a lot of heavy lifting/torquing.

Yeah, definitely on lunch, coffee or whatever. Need to figure out the rubs before I hit the hard trails.

I would say I was extremely lucky to get help on this. Very few shops around here are familiar with MC stuff.

Every good suspension mod should include a sawzall.....
Pichwelds, seams, old control arm mounts and eventually 3/4 link set ups and coilovers.

Wanna avoid the sawzall then budget lift and stay on road.....

Looks good btw like the lift....

Gio08 03-18-2013 04:43 PM

Wow that thing is a beast man.....outstanding!

LULU05 03-18-2013 04:58 PM

Looks good. Hows hiway handling?

Good call I'd just finished chopping the other side and while I was doing that the blade caught and the sawzall spartan kicked me in the chest..... I was frustrated. Those were easy the damn rear shock mounts were the pain

Heh. Highway handling is decent... it seems like I have to fight it a tad bit and I'm dragging balls and chains behind me. Going to get it aligned this weekend to see if a part of that improves. I love the look but it does feel like I'm riding a fat/lazy hog now.

Michigunman 03-18-2013 08:17 PM

One word, it's plural though..........gears............or wait was it money ........same same I guess......... Never ending........

The alignment will help tremendously.

Here's 12+ hours of work compressed into a few minutes.

Mikega8 03-18-2013 10:11 PM

Looks great!!! :thumb: I too, cannot wait to see it in person.

kappaknight 03-18-2013 10:25 PM

Ted - serious question: How'd you get the spare tire onto the carrier? I could barely lift mine a couple of inches to go onto the axles. I feel pretty small (and exhausted) right now.

Michigunman 03-18-2013 10:30 PM

You should check into one of those electric lifts people use to lift their little electric carts into their truck or on to the carrier on the back of their car!

Actually, maybe not that funny :).

kappaknight 03-19-2013 09:00 AM

Heh. Maybe I'll setup a winch pulley system in the garage w/ snatch blocks.

Wish I was kidding...

MosesTJ 03-19-2013 08:27 PM

Did you put the 37's on stock wheels?

kappaknight 03-19-2013 08:42 PM

No, I don't think stock rims are wide enough for 37's.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/18/tahugyse.jpg

Michigunman 03-19-2013 08:44 PM

Especially when they are 13.5" wide :punk:.

Okay. Did you sell stockers? I'm thinking about doing 17" rims with 33' instead of my 15"' with 35's. trying to avoid regear right away.
