Anybody try these LED driving lights?

I ran into these on eBay. Wondering if anybody had tried them.

2005 2010 Dodge Magnum Journey Jeep Wrangler LED Fog Lights Lightbar Lamp Clear | eBay

MikeK46 03-20-2013 09:51 AM

I was hoping someone would respond to this. Could these really be a direct swap for the OEM fogs??

Cride 03-20-2013 10:38 AM

I was hoping somebody would reply also. Sure looks like they would be direct plug & play. A little to much money for me to just dug them to try them out.

Cride 03-20-2013 10:49 AM

Another place to pic them up

I found them on another site as well for a little less $$. I am concerned about the light output as I have not been able to find a lumen rating. I am also concerned about the light pattern.

I do have a message into the eBay seller asking about light output and possible pics of them installed or on.

Somebody who has more $$ than me should pick a set up to just play around with them.

They may be great.

Looks like they also make halo fog lights:

Flynn 03-20-2013 02:13 PM

Is it me or do you need to buy the bulb too? I might try these out

Cride 03-20-2013 02:39 PM

Well, the eBay seller didn't have any additional info on the LED lights.

Both the projector & led lights should have all you need. You shouldn't need to buy any additional bulbs.

MRT2 03-20-2013 02:41 PM

I'm interested also. Seems the LED aftermarket is growing with products that are equivalent (if not better) than the initial products offered (and getting cheaper).

Beats spending the $300 on the Rigid D2's with the bracket for our front bumper?

looks like after I actually read the page, these do come with bulbs. I gotta "read before post" more.

Flynn 03-20-2013 02:51 PM

I ordered some, will post pics when I get em!

Sweet, definitely let us know how they turn out and post some photos of what they look like when they're on!

...which aren't even road legal, causing you to lose fog light functionality altogether when you're on the street.

Where did you end up buying them?

Looking forward to some useful information and review. Definitely interested in light output & pattern. Take plenty of pics!

Duramaxxed 03-20-2013 04:35 PM

Yes, they are a Direct Swap for the OE Fog Lights.

No they will not be Bright (in a Usable way) or have any kind of Beam Pattern. They will be like a Flood Light.

Did you pick up the projector or led?

Flynn 03-21-2013 04:28 PM

The projector ones, I figured I could try different bulbs that way.

I didn't overnight them, I wasn't gunna pay more for that but ill post when I get them.

c_york27 03-21-2013 04:42 PM

I'm excited to see pictures of these!

xNCDUBx 03-21-2013 04:45 PM

I know they're only lights, but for some odd reason... I'm excited for Flynn's purchase also. If I can humbly suggest, perhaps an install of one projector installed at night (to compare the brightness of each)?

Did you went with the hid lights are just regular ones?

Got them today!

I was pretty surprised at the wiring harness that comes with these. I have a few pic and I hooked them up to a battery to show you guys the Halo.

Yeah man, that's what I was planning. I'll probably do it this weekend.

The housing close to the bulb is metal, which I like, and I looks like they can be aimed by moving the metal part. I'll have to pull out the two screw and see exactly what bulb type is in there. I have no experience with HID bulbs so i dont know if they would fit. I'll probably put in the Sylvania Silverstars, i've had good luck with them.

They are the regular bulbs

Duramaxxed 03-29-2013 10:32 AM

They're gonna take an H3 Bulb.

A Full-Size HID Bulb MAY Fit, if not, you're going to have to Use an H3C Bulb, but they are known to not have a Long Life Span.

Did you get those things mounted up?

MRT2 03-31-2013 11:07 AM

Flynn, they look great. The Halo effect adds some modern touches to the rig. Let us know about the fit end, maybe a write-up? I'll definitely be following. Already looking to pull the trigger!

I had so time to write a review today, I'll post some more pics later tonight.

X3 Halo Projector Fog Lights Clear 07 12 Jeep Wrangler 2007;2012

Shipping was Free and Fast. Made in China

Pros :

- Metal Housing around bulb that fits into plastic housing that screws to bumper
- Halos
- Projector Style Lights
- Wiring Harness is quality + dual switch

Cons :

- Instructions are a complete insult to anyone with eyeballs
- One of the units was built upside down, I had to move the bolts on both side and spin the metal part inside the plastic housing 180 degrees. (The plastic housing had TOP on one side and the metal part had TOP on the other side)
- Not submersible, however, I dont know if the factory ones are but stock ones will hold up better than these. You will probably get water in these if you sink them.

It has an H3 bulb, I didnt try or would recommend using any other bulb, i.e. HIDs. But, the bulb area was big enough to stick a 9006 in it. You would have to customize the bulb and then it would definitely not be water tight.

Installation : I had to remove the 4 sway bar bolts and let the sway bar swing out of the way to get the stock ones out and these in. If I mess with fogs again I'm just going to pull the bumper off.

Also, I only ran the wiring back to the battery area. I did not run any wiring inside. I plan on running that in the future. I used the POS output from the factory wiring harness to trip the new wiring harness' relay. I know I could have just "hot wired" it to the factory harness but I didn't do it that way.

As for the difference? I didn't really see any. I'll post some pics. I like the look of the projectors so thats really why I did this. If you are looking for something to be better than the factory fogs, I would think about something else or upgrading the bulb in these. They should be able to handle more heat due to the metal bulb housing.

If you guys have any questions, let me know.
