Best Online shops for Canadians?

I want to order some parts such as a set of Weathertech rain deflectors and a trailer hitch receiver for my JK.

What are the best places to order online with reasonable all-inclusive shipping rates/pre-paid brokerage?

I just don't want a $100 brokerage/advancement bill for $150 of parts...

efm-7 03-19-2013 02:04 PM

Too late, ordered from Summit Racing... still would be good to know for future reference

Dick Blonov 03-20-2013 09:10 AM

I like Northridge4x4 Jeep Parts Online Store.

I don't want my trailer hitch (will never use it)... is there a market to sell them, when they are new?

I think there's a market for them new or used.. I would have bought yours if I hadn't already :P I just need one for my Swagman bike rack

bucky24 03-28-2013 02:51 PM

Hey st1264, do you have the info for the hitch you're selling? I'm lookin'

st1264 03-28-2013 03:12 PM

"Class II rating
A trailer hitch rated to safely tow 3,500 lbs. or less. Trailer Tow w/4-Pin Connector Wiring"

This is what it says on Jeep.ca. I know little about trailer hitches... If you are local, let me know.

Order stuff into UPS Ogdensburg, then drive down and pick it up. I'm currently saving hundreds of dollars on stuff I'm buying in the US at US prices, even with the cost of gas and duty.

Agreed. Lots of companies in the US will ship parcels for free to a UPS store in the states and you go and pick it up... save you lots of money if you are in a border town.

I have been looking all over the place for the best price on the Trektop NX for my 2012 JKU. Here is what I found. The best price is the local CarQuest shop for 789,80$ plus tax. Ironically, the highest price is also a local shop, Action Car and Truck accessories for 1035$ plus tax.

Online, the best price I found, including shipping is Northridge4x4 (free shipping) for 917,94$.

Has anybody seen this top for less in Canada?

Dan2012 04-03-2013 06:48 PM

Not in canada, but 4wheelonline sells them for $599 and with shipping it comes for $714 (I know because I bought one). HOWEVER...I would be careful because I got double-charged originally and had to jump through hoops to get the money back. Once I got it sorted out it was shipped quickly though, so there is that.

No problems with duties? Or extra charges?

Dan2012 04-03-2013 07:36 PM

Not as of yet :-P They have a warehouse in Cornwall so I think it was probably shipped from there. I think they have a warehouse out west as well if that's closer to your neck of the woods.

mackdj1 04-03-2013 07:49 PM

You could look at just jeeps. I believe they have a canadian site there is also one based out of New Brunswick but I can't remember the name. I'll look it up.

Try national 4wd. That's another site. Another way to go would be to talk to a local 4x4 shop and show them what you can get it for online. Sometimes they can work a deal.

Doutchie 04-03-2013 08:06 PM

National4wd is also pretty expensive. Locally seems the way to go for me.

Here are the prices that I found.
Jeeparts.ca = 821,09+199,46(shipping) plus tax
NorthshoreOffroad = 863,84+56,80(shipping) plus tax
National4wdonline = 886,19+61,99(shipping) plus tax
Gemini-sales = 749,95+175,91(shipping) plus tax
Justjeeps = 849,95+150(shipping) plus tax
Partsoutfitter = 849,95+105,56(shipping) plus tax
Northridge4x4 = 917,94 + tax (no shipping)
Action car and truck accessories (local) = 1035 plus tax
CarQuest (local) = 789,80 plus tax

I can't believe the different prices.

Yeah those prices are all over the place. Sorry I got no other suggestions.

Bangert 04-07-2013 11:05 PM

National 4wd , great distributor, bad web design, however it's located in Calgary so none of them shitty duty charges ;)

efm-7 04-08-2013 07:00 PM

Every time I call National4wd in Smiths Falls, they quote me more than it would cost me to have something shipped to my house. As much as I like supporting local shops (still an hour away from me) I can't afford to pay more just out of charity :( The only benefit I see is that if i'm really in a pinch or impatient, I could have it that same day. But most things can wait.

For example, they quoted me $700 for a set of 4 ProComp 16x8 1069s. $20 more than it would cost me to get it from Summit. When I questioned this, they told me it's because they're passing on the cost of freight from the warehouse... Similarly, their site says $159 for the AEV Procal. But the guy on the phone says $199 plus tax... Sure.. that might be a liiiitle bit more than what it would cost to have it sent to my door - but I think listing it on the site at $159 and telling me something else on the phone is kind of misleading... Perhaps i'm seriously misunderstanding the purpose of the Smiths Falls store, Maybe they're more of a mechanical shop? I'll be honest, i;ve never been there, but to me they come off as those shops that say "pfft... where else ya gonna go?.. go ahead, TRY ordering one from the internet, you'll come out worse!"

I had the same thing happen to me when I went into National4WD in Burlington to buy my procal. The guy explained shipping it from the warehouse but then said "no prob" and gave it to me for $159. I think it's a stock availability thing.

I just bought from 2 US retailers, with my Canadian credit card, shipped to an American address. I'll be notified when the packages arrive... go pick them up. $5 fee/package.

Price of shipping to Detroit, FREE.

The small package was quoted as shipped for $37.50 directly to me, the big one I didn't bother getting a quote. Add on brokerage fees and I would have been buried. Think I'll save a lot of money this way. Too bad you need to be close to the border to do it.

Sorry, this really doesn't help most of you guys but you can't get USA pricing in Canada. We overpay for almost everything here.

On sale at Morris 4x4 for $644.99 with free shipping in USA (not sure about shipping to Canada). I bought a Spiderwebshade from them, shipped to my Detroit postal address in 2 days, for free. Going to pick it up tomorrow.

If I wanted that top, that's what I would do. Looking around in Canada for US prices will just disappoint. Check the rate to your city and see if it's feasible. They are a vendor on this board, maybe give them a shout.

st1264 04-20-2013 02:58 PM

As an update... $320 worth of goods declared - let us go :dance:

Saved about $100 in shipping + brokerage + CDN taxes + 20% on the items. Glad I live in a border town.

You can come very close. If you talk nice to CS at Qudratec they can help. They have shipped items to me via USPS at a drastically reduced cost. It was worth it and their turn around time was great. Don't just accept what it says when you click on 'Checkout' at any site, call 'em up and ask.

I prefer FREE to Detroit and go pick it up. I was quoted $37.50 for the small package through USPS and the other one was UPS :eek:. I know many other Canadians aren't close to the border and they can't do what I did, but USPS is the best way to ship to Canada. If it's shipped UPS to Canada I wouldn't buy. Getting $60 brokerage fees + inflated shipping isn't for me.

Doutchie 04-22-2013 04:24 PM

I decided to order my Trektop NX at the local CarQuest today. Being in Northern Ontario, it's not feasible for me to get it shipped to a US address (that I don't have anyways). And besides, the fuel cost for me to get there would greatly surpass the difference in cost. I bought it for 789.90$ plus tax, no shipping.

Times 2. I live 10 minutes from the border and have all my mods shipped to the UPS store in Niagara Falls NY. Gotta love it when you get a "car guy" border guard and he/she lets you go. :punk:

st1264 04-22-2013 08:04 PM

$789.90 + tax = $892.59

$644.99 + taxes at the border is around $730. I could have saved about $160 if I did it. If you knew someone in a border town they could have picked it up and shipped it to you for about $50 and you'd still be way ahead.

I filled up my tank in gas and saved about $30! When I go over I make a day of it, buy other items and save big. I'd rather spend my money in Canada but I work hard for my money and if I overpay for everything that's less mods I can make to my Jeep. I'm a 9 to 5'r and can't afford to overpay for everything when saving a ton of money is a ten minute drive away.
