I did a little searching, and didn't find a lot. Anyone have any experience with the 7000MT?

Patrick, if it doesn't have to do with bedlining, plasti dip or what size lift to get to run 35's it doesn't count:whistling:

well good morning Patrick. That will be a first on here I think. Haven't read where somebody pd'ed their shocks yet.

I have had good luck with Rancho shocks in the past but that was on a 2000 TJ and don't remember the model.

Just trying to get you back on track.:thumb:

I used to run 5000's on my Blazers and Chevy trucks, but they're too stiff for a Jeep (I tried them on one of my CJ5's). My Dad has 9000's on his Silverado and his CJ5 and they're good.
I just couldn't find many reviews on the 7000's, especially on a TJ. The reviews I did read on full size trucks were definitely good for the most part. Rancho claims that they're "specifically valved for the TJ" , and I'm sure they say that for every application. Judging by that statement, and the finish they put on them, it looks to me like they're trying to compete with Bilstein. I've never run Bilstein shocks, so I can't be disappointed, right?

That series of Rancho shocks is very new and I am not aware of anyone who have bought them yet. It will probably be several months before people will get back on this request.

Rancho makes some excellent shocks but not all are suitable for or ride well with our Jeeps. Yep I'd wait for direct feedback on that particular model before buying them. Or just go right to their excellent R9000xl that is a great shock with 9 different settings you can select from to choose how soft or stiff you like your ride.

On that note Jerry, I was looking at those this morning. I understand that everyone says to take your shocks off to measure fully extended and fully compressed, to determine the shocks you need. Seeing how I have three different shocks (courtesy of the PO) I'm not 100% convinced that they are the correct ones. I posted my suspension pics before and everone seems to think I have 4" coils and 2" BB. How would I be able to tell exactly what is needed for my rig?

Like I said, I do have indirect experience with the 9000's. The 7000's are ordered; which is why I said I'd be the guinea pig.;) Stay tuned, if anyone wants my opinion on these.

To be precise when you don't have a known starting point from correctly sized shocks, you need to be able to fully cycle the suspension so you can measure between the shock mounting points. That requires the Jeep be supported via the frame & the springs out so you can measure between the shock mounting points when the suspension is at full droop and when fully compressed. The less precise way is to simply find a shock advertised for a 6" suspension lift for a TJ.

Which can be a crap shoot. My current "for 2" lift" shocks are more suited for 3"+ lift.

Please post your opinions of the 7000's. I too started a thread last week looking for first hand experience and came up empty handed. Post some pics of out of the box as well so we can get a good visual of the finish. What part numbers did you order?

Same ones i am looking at. Figure with a 2-2.5" lift going to need 1.5" bumpstop up front and 2" in rear. These are some long shocks though so droop should be nice.

Let me preface this by saying this is the only TJ I've owned, and the only shocks I've run were the stock shocks for a very short time, since then I've been running Pro Comp ES1000. I knew all along they were pretty "mushy". In other words, they didn't do a whole lot of damping. The Jeep felt kind of "wallowy", like riding on a wet springy marshmallow. Make sense? Like when I would go through an uneven low spot in the road, I got a lot of side to side rocking. I'm trying to explain how it rode here...I thought a lot of it was just typical of the coil spring suspension (keep in mind I spent 15 years driving leaf spring Jeeps).
Today I installed the Rancho RS7000 MT's, and it's a world of difference. It's so much more stable, and less sway, and body roll. It's much more firm. I hesitate to use the word "stiff", because it really isn't. It's just more stable, and the wallowy (I know, technical term) feeling is gone. I've only put about 15 miles on it, with only about 1/4 mile of dirt road. I'm excited to get it on the highway. I am impressed.
I wanted to preface this because I have no experience with any of the other popular shocks among TJ owners, and I don't want to lead anyone astray, but I'm happy with them. Would I be happier with 9000's, or Bilsteins? I don't know. So, based on my limited TJ experience, I would recommend them.

They are a bit shorter than my other shocks, which I wanted. I may shorten the rear bump stops 1/2", but I'm not really concerned with 1/2" of uptravel.

Yes. Imma plasti-line the shaft, and bed-dip the shock body.

Just use some sanf paper on the shaft and add some tac glue that would do the trick right lmao.

Thanks for the follow up, may just go that route with Rancho 2.5" springs and bump stops as well as future Metal Cloak or Currie control arms. What lift do you have on their now?

2" BDS springs, 3/4" spacer in front, 2 1/2" front bump stops, 2" rears, Savvy/ Currie lower control arms, stock uppers for now, JKS front track bar, JKS Quicker disconnects, rear track bar relocation bracket.

Rite along the line i was thinking of going. I may just order rancho 2.5 coils though to avoid the spacer. I currently have rancho lower control arms with the barrel shaped bushings and re upper rear control arms with some front in the garage waiting to go on once gone over.
Looking to run jks trackbars as well with the cv bracket in the rear since i have the ucf high clearance skid.
